Similarity Formulas

The document provides formulas for calculating length, area, and volume using a scale factor 'k' for model and plot conversions. It includes examples and notes on geometric relationships between triangles and trapeziums, as well as a method for squaring large numbers. Additionally, it lists conversion factors between centimeters, meters, and kilometers for length, area, and volume.

SIMILARITY (MODEL SUMS)

CLASS X WINTER COACHING

SIR DEVEN’S FORMULA SHEET
ST. ANTHONY’S SCHOOL GIRLS

1) Length or Distance [ cm, m or km] :

Lm = 1
Lp k

2) Area [ cm2, m2 or km2 ] :

Am = 1
Ap k2

3) Volume [ cm3 or m3 ] :

Vm = 1
Vp k3

where,
k scale factor

Example:
1 : 200000 This value is ‘k’

m model or map
It is always the smaller value and it is always in
cm or cm2 or cm3.
p plot
It is always the greater value and it is always
in either
m or m2 or m3 or km or km2.

Note:

1)Big Triangle = Small Triangle + Trapezium

(∆) (∆)

2)Small Triangle = Big Triangle - Trapezium

(∆) (∆)

3)Trapezium = Big Triangle - Small Triangle

Note:
How to square 2500000

(2500000)2
Steps:

1)Take the no i.e 25 separately and square it up.

Example: 252 = 625

2) Count the no of zeroes and double it or

just multiply by 2.

Example: There are 5 zeroes so multiply by 2

i.e It becomes 10
Therefore the final answer is
625 × 1010
CONVERSIONS:

1) 1 cm = 1 m or 1m = 100cm
100

2) 1 cm2 = 1 m2 or 1m2 = 104 cm2

104

3) 1 cm = 1 km or 1 km = 105 cm
105

4) 1 cm2 = 1 km2 or 1 km2 = 1010 cm2

1010

5) 1 cm3 = 1 m3 or 1 m3 = 106 cm3
