RTU500 12.6

RTU500 12.6 release (2019-12)
New functions:

Script interface: to support fleet management of installed RTU’s related to file handling of:
• RTU configuration files
• RTU firmware
• RTU HMI files
• PLC project packages
• Password files
• Support of MultiCMU configuration
The up- and download and activation of the files is supported. The scripts are running in Microsoft
PowerShell environment.
IEC 60870-5-104 protocol supports now secure authentication based on IEC62351-5. By configuration the
support of IEC62351-3 (TLS) and IEC62351-5 (secure authentication) can be selected. (contact hotline team
for feature key)→Flyer
PLC parameter management:
It is possible now to change predefined PLC parameters during runtime via web browser.
This simplify the testing and commissioning process of PLC logics based on predefined PLC
functions/libraries (symbolic PLC)

PLC deployment:
PLC programs can be downloaded as PLC project package with web browser and script interface to
RTU500. Multiprog 5 is no more required for the file download to RTU500.

New integrated HMI launcher:

The new integrated HMU launcher allows the usage of the newest Java version (e.g. Rel.11, 13). Commercial
agreements for commercial use of Java 8 are no more required. The start of the integrated HMI can be done
from desktop by batch file or as application.

VxWorks vulnerability IPnet URGENT/11 is solved with this release. See separate announcement under link
and further information here
Queue monitoring for IEC60870-5-104 host communication
The filling status if the IEC60870-5-104 host communication is monitored now. If the filling state reaches
75% a system event is generated.
Brute force attack monitoring and protection:
In case of several unsuccessful login attempts to RTU500 (wrong password and/or user name) the login will
be blocked for a time period. Function can be configured (number of attempts, enable/disable) and the
settings will be distributed together with the password file/password policy

Protect manipulation of configuration data:

Download of configuration data is only possible with valid username and password. Manipulation with card
reader are detected and refused by RTU500

Monitoring of SD card:
If SD card is unplugged during operation a system event is created. Based on that system event an alarm
can be initiated.
MODBUS host communication:
Function codes 15 and 16 are now supported for host communication. This function supports industrial
SCADA projects based on MODBUS communication.

DNP3 host communication: A configurable waiting time improves the support of radio net works

New Multimeter 500CVD90: For secondary distribution (SDA) application a new multimeter with detection
functions, power quality monitoring and disturbance recorder function with COMTRADE file support is
available. For details please check the datasheet

ATS function: For secondary distribution automation a PLC library function for automatic transfer switch
function with 5 different modes is available. Function is pretested and works according this description.
Function can be ordered on pricelist (BOL)→ Flyer

PLC issue: With this release the cache function is enabled to provide the full performance for the PLC
function (Process logic control according IEC61131-3). The cache memory of the ARM based CMU’s (RTU540
and RTU560) was temporally disabled in former release to solve a bug in the PLC function.
