EOG 3
EOG 3
1. Where would you normally get the air for instrumentation on offshore rig?
Rig Air generator.
Basic maintenance:
3. After pressure test ESD stem doesn’t close what would be the cause? (didn’t understand that
but it’s written like that)
4. If you were to gauge 10k psi NPT receptacle on the STT and found that the thread gauge went is
too far, what would you do?
5. Give two indications that the ESD might not be operating correctly?
1. What type of connection is on the supergreen oil head when connecting required piping?
Clamp connection
2. When conducting an offshore oil job and using the Expro burner booms, how many hard pipe
lines are required to carry out the job?
3. When getting set to plug in the ignition system, what do you have to check first ?
Suitable power is present
Ignition cable is mounted correctly
Cables not damaged and as much as far from heat radiation
Check the earthing of ignition system
4. How many line do you have running out to allow you to operate a burner head? Name Them
4 lines: Hydrocarbons line, air line, propane pilot line, water line
5. When dealing with the ignition lances on a burner boom, what key area will you inspect for
damage after it arrives on location?
ESD SYSTEM
1. What pressure is required to maintain the ESD valve open during operation?
Valve body pressure and Piston/Stem area ratio determine which pressure needed, in my
experience hydraulic pressure is set to be around 1500psi.
3. When operating the panel to commission the ESD system, what position should be the manual
override switch in until the final test? Why?
OFF, to unlock the ESD loop.
4. When installing the ESD panel in position, where would your air source come from?
Rig Air System
5. When installing and commissioning an ESD system what steps are taken to ensure correct
operation prior to opening the well?
Confirm if all ESD devices are calibrated and function tested and placed as per PID
diagram and ESD philosophy.
Ensure required dry air supply.
No leaks or damages on ESD loop hose.
Function test it.
OPERATIONS
1. During Clean up operationand when flowing through the adjustable choke debris are collecting
at the choke and thereby decreasing the flow, how would you solve this problem and who
would you notify about the problem?
Rock the choke open and close.
3. You are trying to change the fixed choke but one of the gate valves on fixed side is passing, what
would you do?
Try to grease it, if it doesn’t work nothing to do you have to close the well and make
necessary changes.
PIPEWORK
1. Mention three causes for techlock and Greylock unions not being easy to dismantle after the
job and the seal is not broken?
Metal deformation due to high temperatures
Heavy tighteness.
Maybe they missed to lubricate it when mounting it.
4. What type of flange would you use upstream of the choke MFD?
API Flanges.
5. Can we use copper based lubricant on high pressure Tecklock or Greylock pipework?
NO
6. What is the MWP of Ansi 150 flange?
ASA size * 1.9
STT
3. Why is it important to count the number of turns on the STT Valves when operating them?
To know and confirm either is fully close or fully open
4. When the flow head or STT first arrives onboard what checks will you make?
Check Working pressure
Visual inspection for any damage
Connection threads, seal faces and crossovers
Function test all manual valves open and close
Check swivel rotation
