MODULE DESCRIPTION
• Module Objective This 950 GC Wheel Loader module is designed to prepare the service technician to
locate and describe the functionality of the components located around the machine
and in the operator’s station. Lab exercises will be used for skills development and
a knowledge check.
• Competency Statement Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to locate, identify, and
briefly explain the function of components in the operator’s station of the 950 GC
Wheel Loader.
• Classroom/Lab Ratio This module is comprised of approximately 40% theory (classroom presentation)
and 60% practical application (lab exercises).
• Audience Level II--field service personnel, resident mechanics, technical communicators, and
shop technicians. All participants should have a working knowledge of basic
electrical, electronic, and hydraulic control systems on Cat machines.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
• Module Learning Outcome This 950 GC Wheel Loader Operator’s Station module is designed to introduce the
operator’s station and to identify the location and function of the operator controls,
switches, and cab mounted components.
• Visual Presentation Participants will take notes on the wheel loader features as well as the location and
function of each component during a visual presentation, and meet the following
learning outcomes during the Operator’s Station module:
• Identify the location and explain the functionality of the machine operation
controls and switches during a lab exercise.
• Identify and explain the function of the operator’s station components during a
lab exercise.
• Lab 1 Given the Lab 1 Worksheet, identify the location of the machine operation controls
and switches during a lab exercise.
Given a 950 GC Wheel Loader and the Lab 2 Worksheet, identify and explain the
function of the operator station components during a lab exercise.

worksheet exercises.
The participant lab sheets, along with accompanying materials, are located in the
Student Material PDF (included in the module PDF).
NOTE: Discuss safety procedures with the participants for each shop
lab (i.e. safety glasses, clothing). Safely Home. Everyone. Every
Day.™
Participants will identify the location of the machine operation controls and switches
on the Lab 1 Worksheet.
Explain the process for filling out the worksheet (distributed during the visual
presentation).
Inform participants they may refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual or
class notes while completing the worksheet.
• Lab Preparation Prior to conducting the lab exercises, perform the following steps:

LESSON PLAN
• Instructor Note The following page should be used to create a module lesson plan.
-- Learning activities used to support each topic. (If it is broken down into
activities, they are to be notated here. Otherwise, list the slides used for the
topic.)
-- What will be delivered during this time, i.e. safety, attention getter, purpose,
etc.
• Breaks
• Lunch
-- Length of lunch
The lesson plan provides areas for both estimated time and actual time. The
developer should populate the estimated time column as a guideline for instructors
using the material. The actual time column is to be used for the instructor to modify
the lesson plan as needed to fulfill his or her needs.
