Vaping
2. Cognitive Effects
Nicotine can have detrimental effects on brain development, particularly in
adolescents and young adults, whose brains are still developing:
Impaired Memory and Learning: Studies have shown that nicotine can
affect areas of the brain responsible for memory and learning,
potentially leading to difficulties in concentration, memory retention, and
decision-making.
Decreased Attention and Impulsivity: Nicotine use can impair attention
and increase impulsive behavior, making it harder to focus and regulate
behavior in certain situations.
NEGATIVE EFFECTS IN THE
MENTAL HEALTH
3. Increased Risk of Mental Health Disorders
Nicotine addiction from vaping can be linked to an increased risk of various
mental health disorders:
Depression: There is evidence to suggest that nicotine can contribute to
depressive symptoms, particularly in individuals with a predisposition to
mood disorders. Nicotine may alter neurotransmitter function, such as
serotonin and dopamine, which play key roles in mood regulation.
Anxiety: While some individuals may vape to manage anxiety, the
opposite effect may occur in the long run. Nicotine addiction can
worsen anxiety disorders, leading to cycles of temporary relief followed
by increased anxiety.
NEGATIVE EFFECTS IN THE
MENTAL HEALTH
4. Social and Psychological Effects
Vaping can also have social and psychological implications:
Social Isolation: Nicotine addiction can lead to social isolation as users
may feel the need to vape in private or may spend excessive amounts
of time using their device, potentially straining relationships with family,
friends, and coworkers.
Escalating Habit: People may find themselves using vaping as a coping
mechanism for stress, boredom, or negative emotions. Over time, this
can become a psychological crutch, making it more difficult to manage
emotions without relying on the vape.
NEGATIVE EFFECTS IN THE
MENTAL HEALTH
5. Sleep Disruption
Nicotine is a stimulant, and using it, especially close to bedtime, can disrupt
sleep patterns:
Difficulty Falling Asleep: Nicotine may interfere with the ability to fall
asleep and stay asleep, leading to poor sleep quality and daytime
fatigue.
Sleep Disturbances: Chronic use of nicotine may result in longer-term
sleep disturbances, affecting mental clarity and emotional regulation.
NEGATIVE EFFECTS IN
THE PHYSICAL HEALTH
1. Respiratory Issues
Lung Irritation: Inhaling the vapor from e-cigarettes can irritate the airways,
leading to coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. The chemicals in the
vape liquid, such as propylene glycol and glycerin, can cause inflammation in the
lungs.
Popcorn Lung (Bronchiolitis Obliterans): This rare and severe lung condition is
associated with exposure to diacetyl, a chemical sometimes used to create
buttery flavors in e-liquids. While the FDA has banned diacetyl in food products,
it is not always regulated in vaping products. It can cause scarring of the small
airways in the lungs, leading to a persistent cough and difficulty breathing.
Increased Risk of Respiratory Infections: Vaping can weaken the immune system
in the lungs, making them more susceptible to infections such as pneumonia and
bronchitis.
NEGATIVE EFFECTS IN
THE PHYSICAL HEALTH
2. Cardiovascular Effects
Heart Rate and Blood Pressure: Nicotine is a stimulant that can increase heart
rate and blood pressure. This puts extra strain on the cardiovascular system and
can raise the risk of developing heart disease over time.
Increased Risk of Heart Disease: Research suggests that long-term nicotine use,
such as through vaping, can damage the blood vessels, increasing the risk of
cardiovascular issues like heart attacks and stroke. Nicotine promotes the release
of chemicals that contribute to the narrowing of arteries (atherosclerosis).
Blood Clotting: Nicotine can also increase the risk of blood clotting, which can
lead to dangerous conditions like heart attacks or strokes, especially in
individuals with existing cardiovascular risk factors.
NEGATIVE EFFECTS IN
THE PHYSICAL HEALTH
4. Chemical Exposure
Toxic Chemicals: E-liquids contain various chemicals, some of which are harmful
when inhaled. These include formaldehyde, acrolein, and acetaldehyde—
chemicals known to be toxic and carcinogenic. Heating the liquid in the vape
can release these harmful substances into the lungs.
Metals from Heating Coils: Vaping devices often use metal coils to heat the
liquid. In some cases, these coils can release metals such as lead, chromium, and
nickel into the vapor, which can be inhaled and pose long-term health risks,
including organ damage and cancer.
NEGATIVE EFFECTS IN
THE PHYSICAL HEALTH
As 14-year-olds, we deeply regret vaping at school. We thought it was cool and something
to fit in with, but now we realize how foolish and irresponsible it was. We didn’t understand
the health risks or how our actions affected those around us, especially at school where we
should be focused on learning.
Vaping at school was disrespectful to our teachers, peers, and ourselves. We regret not
having the courage to say "no" when pressured by others. Looking back, we see that true
strength is in making the right choices, even if it's hard.
We are sorry for setting a bad example and hope others learn from our mistakes. Vaping
isn’t worth it, and we’re committed to making better decisions from now on.
THANKS FOR PAYING
ATTENTYION, AND WE ARE
DEEPLY SORRY FOR OUR
