The ticker tape timer is used in a lab to study the motion of a trolley by punching dots on a tape at a rate of 10 dots per second. The spacing of the dots indicates the speed of the trolley, with wider spacing representing higher speeds and closer spacing indicating slower speeds. By cutting the tape into strips after 10 dots, one can create a bar graph to visually analyze the trolley's speed, with longer strips representing faster motion and shorter strips representing slower motion.

Ticker tape timer:
Used in lab to investigate motion of a trolley (toy
car) Ticker tape timer has a punch head that punches 10 dots every second. (this can be set to any value) It punches the dots on a thin long tape called the ticker tape.
The trolley (a toy car) is attached to the tape.
As seen in the video, as the trolley moves, the tape also moves along with it. The punch head punches 10 dots per second. If the dots are spaced out, the trolley’s speed is high. When the dots are close together, the trolley’s speed is low. We can analyze the spacing between the dots to understand the motion of the trolley. We can also cut the strips after 10 dots (i.e dots punched in sec), and arrange them like a bar graph and analyze
