Introduction Activity b1 eanglish worhsheet
My name is Sandy Banes. I am from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. I studied Law at Harvard University. I now work
as a teacher, teaching other people law. My hobbies are swimming and running. My favourite food is pizza.
My favourite thing to do in my free time is watching action movies. My favourite animal is a cat. My favourite
colour is blue. There are five people in my family.
When we introduce ourselves, we do not want to talk for too long or give too much information. Instead,
we should focus on the important things.
We use the present tense for most of our personal information. We can use the past tense for things that
happened in the past too, like what we studied.
Kyle also had to introduce himself to the class. Read his introduction below:
My name is Kyle Anderson. I am from Melbourne in Australia. I studied Engineering at the University
of Sydney. I now work as an architect, designing buildings. My hobbies are surfing and cycling. My
favourite food is sushi. My favourite thing to do in my free time is playing video games. My favourite
animal is a dog. My favourite colour is green. There are four people in my family.
Here is some useful vocabulary you can use for each point:

Disclaimer: This resource has been made for the purpose of teaching English language learners. We know that students can be learning English in many different places, in many different ways and at any age,
so we try to keep these resources as general as possible.
There are many acronyms associated with English language teaching. These include (but are not limited to) ELT, TEFL, EFL, ELL, EAL and ESOL. While the term ESL may not fully represent the linguistic
backgrounds of all students, it is the most widely recognised term for English language teaching globally. Therefore, we use the term ‘ESL’ in the names of our resources to make them easy to find but they are
suitable for any student learning to speak English.
