PRIVATE STUDENTS

Harshit Nimbark

1. 14/1: isn’t she lovely chords, solo on pink floyd’s ,money’ +


pentatonic and blues scales
2. 22/1: money solo in progress + isn’t she lovely chords
3. 29/1: Money solo almost done.+ suggested ‘layla’ or other
songs from ‘Cream of Clapton’ to work out for guitar.
4. 5/2: worked on some improv ideas with Isn’t She Lovely.
Playing better. Next two weeks: waiting on the world to
change + Something.

Mansij Madaan

1. 21/9: talked about chords and voicings. Gave him Feel Like
Making Love to prepare chords of (in different positions) +
Melody + 3-7 voicings for all chords across the fretboard.
2. 6/10: played through FLML, discussed practicing technique
and transcribing, 7th chord arpeggios in solos and introduced
to drop 2 inversions. How Insensitive for next week.
3. 20/10: Played through HI – chords are good. Work more on
inversions + arpeggios to use through the tune. Discussed
chords and available tensions.
4. 4/11: chords + arpeggios, has to transcribe one chorus of Pat
Martino’s solo, using chord inversions in different contexts
5. 17/11:
6. 2/12: like someone in love chords, melody, bassline, solo
needs to be prepared. Discussed comping specific to styles,
more on chords and inversions.
7. 22/12: basslines, comping in swing style, practicing with
metronome on 2 & 4, soloing over like someone, tenor
madness, symmetrical scales
8. 12/1: pat martino solo needs work – I need to share a
transcription with him. Bass lines in Bb blues + LSIL. Swing
comping. Played through tenor madness – melody, comp,
soloing. Next class – PM solo, transcribe chords of Ghost by
Lianne, new swing tune – ATTYA
9. 6/4- skype lesson. Gave him ‘wave’ for chords +melody _
chord outline practice. Bossa Rhythms.
10.

Priyanshu Choudhary

1. 6/2: 5 positions of the pentatonic scale, major scale positions,


cupid’s dead.
2. 21/2: reviewed scales – they seem OK. Discussed improvising
with pentatonic shapes. Cupid’s dead, 7th chords, 12-bar
blues.
3. 6/3: circle of fifths: add in minor keys, write out major and
minor triads for all 12 keys; give him a solo to work out for
phrasing + ‘Something’, 7th chords review, major scales in
different subdivisions still need work.
4. 21/3: checked triads – had not used flats at all so corrected
that, scales and subdivisions are better, 7 th chords need work.
Somehting – needs to learn chords + solo better, and will
prepare a solo of his own over the same chords.
5. 4/4 – something solo needs work and still has to make his own
solo. Went over triad theory with him once again. New song -
Money.
