WHAT’S IN

My favorite things
Hi! My name’s Ruby. I’m 13, and I’m
in 7th grade at Kennedy High School.
What do I have in my school locker?
Let’s have a look!
In my locker, I have books – a lot of books
for all my different school subjects. I don’t
have space in my backpack for a lot of
books, so when I have a class, I come to
my locker for the right book.
I also have other things for school: extra
pens and pencils. My planner isn’t in my
locker because I have it in my backpack.
I have a snack and a bottle of water in
my locker, too. I have lunch at school,
but sometimes I’m hungry in the
afternoon. I have a very quick snack,
and then I’m good to go!
I don’t have money in my locker.
My money is in my pocket. In my school,
the rule is: no money in lockers. And we
don’t have our phones with us in class;
it isn’t allowed, so my phone is in my
locker until the end of the school day.

Hi, Gustavo! School finishes at 3:30 p.m., and I am in the soccer club.
I do that until 4 p.m. and then I go home. At home, I relax and I usually
watch videos on YouTube. After that, I send messages to my friends.

Good question! My hobby is playing video games, and when I get home from
school, it’s the first thing I do. After an hour, I need some exercise, and I take
a walk around my neighborhood. After I get home, I practice guitar for half an

Clothes
To: Amina
Subject: Day trip to Bondi Beach

Hi, Amina!
I’m on vacation in Sydney, Australia! I’m writing to you
from Bondi Beach! It’s a cool beach close to the city. People
from Sydney come here to sunbathe. I’m sending you a
picture of it.
I’m here with my mom and dad and my Australian cousins,
Scott and Becca. My cousins are playing beach tennis. I
think Scott is winning! I’m not playing right now because
it’s very hot! It’s December, so it’s summer in Australia. I’m
having a cold drink and a snack in a small café.
Mom is fishing on the rocks at the end of the beach. She
likes fishing, but she isn’t catching any fish right now.
Maybe the fish are all keeping cool at the bottom of the
ocean! Dad is in the water, but he isn’t near the rocks. He’s
taking a surfing lesson. He isn’t doing very well. He’s falling
over, but he’s laughing and enjoying it!
I hope you’re having a good time at home!
See you at school!
