Chapter 1

INTRODUCTION

Provide short introduction to the chapter. One to two sentences will do.

Background

This part provides an overview of the mathematical concept or topic being

investigated. It should include relevant definitions, historical context, or previous

studies that relate to the investigation. The background helps set the stage for

understanding why the problem is worth exploring.

Statement of the Problem

Clearly defines the specific question or problem that the investigation

seeks to address. This section should state what is being explored, analyzed, or

solved, often in the form of a question.

Significance of the Investigation

Explain why the investigation is important. It should describe the potential

contributions of the study, such as its applications in real life, its usefulness in

further mathematical studies, or its impact on understanding a particular

mathematical concept.

Scope and Limitations

Defines the boundaries of the investigation. The scope specifies what

aspects of the topic will be covered, while the limitations clarify constraints such

as assumptions made, restrictions on data, or methods that will not be explored

due to time, resources, or complexity.

4

Chapter 2

EXPLORATION AND DATA COLLECTION

Provide short introduction to the chapter. One to two sentences will do.

Approach Taken

This part explains the method used to investigate the problem. It describes

how data is gathered, whether through numerical experimentation, algebraic

manipulation, geometric construction, or real-world observation. The approach

should be systematic and reproducible.

Presentation of Initial data

This section provides the raw data or examples used in the investigation.

It may include tables, charts, diagrams, or graphs to help visualize the

information. The goal is to organize the data in a way that makes it easier to

analyze.

Identification of Patterns or Relationships

Analyzes the data presented to identify trends, patterns, or mathematical

relationships. This part serves as the foundation for forming conjectures. It

should highlight any observations that suggest general rules or principles.

5

Chapter 3

CONJECTURE FORMULATION

Summarizes the key observations from the Exploration and Data

Collection section. Describes how these observations lead to a possible general

rule or mathematical relationship. May include numerical patterns, algebraic

expressions, or geometric properties.

Statement of the Conjecture(s)

Clearly presents the proposed conjecture in precise mathematical

language. If multiple conjectures arise, each should be stated separately. May

include symbolic notation, equations, or a verbal explanation of the relationship.

6

Chapter 4

JUSTIFICATION

Provides logical reasoning or formal proof to support the conjecture. Uses

algebraic manipulation, geometric reasoning, or other mathematical techniques.

If applicable, includes counterexamples to refine the conjecture. Discusses the

validity and possible special cases.

7

Chapter 5

VERIFICATION

Tests the conjecture using additional examples beyond the initial data.

Checks for consistency by applying the conjecture in different scenarios.

Compares the conjecture with established mathematical results (if applicable).

Ensures that the conjecture holds true under various conditions.

8

Chapter 6

APPLICATION AND EXTENSION

Provide short introduction to the chapter. One to two sentences will do.

Real-world applications of the Investigation

Explains how the findings can be applied to practical situations. Describes

connections to fields like physics, economics, engineering, or everyday

problems.

Possible Extension

Suggests new directions for further research. Identifies open questions or

more complex problems related to the topic. Encourages deeper exploration

beyond the current investigation.
