session 1 – Introduction

Session 1: Introduction
1.1 Welcome
1.2 Spiritual Formation #1
Matthew 9:35-38
1.3 Purpose of this subject
1.4 Overview of Syllabus
1.5 Your expectations?
what’s Jesus’ attitude to His harvest?
34 “My food,” said Jesus,
“is to do the will of Him
who sent me and to finish
His work.
35 Do not say, ‘Four months more
and then the harvest’?
I tell you, open your eyes
and look at the fields!
They are ripe for harvest.
John 4: 34,35
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom
for the prisoners and recovery of
sight for the blind,
to release the oppressed,
19 to proclaim the year of the
Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18-19
35 Then Jesus went about
all the cities and villages,
teaching in their synagogues,
preaching the gospel of the
kingdom, and healing every
sickness and every disease among
the people.
36 But when He saw the
multitudes, He was moved with
compassion for them,
because they were weary and
scattered,
like sheep having no shepherd.
37 Then He said to His disciples,
“The harvest truly is plentiful,
but the labourers are few.
38 Therefore pray the Lord of
the harvest to send out
labourers into His harvest”
Matthew 9:35 – 38
Jesus was anointed for harvest!
Luke 4:18 –19

Are you?
“Jesus went…”

Are you? 24 – 7 – 365?

“When he saw the crowds …”

Do you see with Father’s eyes?

Do you see with
Father’s eyes?
“He had compassion on them…”

Is your heart working?

11 Say to them,
‘As surely as I take no pleasure
in the death of the wicked,
but rather that they turn from
their ways and live.
Turn! Turn from your evil ways!
Why will you die, O house of
Israel?’
Ezekiel 33:11
He is patient with you,
not wanting anyone to perish,
but everyone to come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9b
“Like sheep without a shepherd …”

Are you prepared to lead?

“Then he said to his disciples …”

Are you a listening disciple?

Surely the Sovereign Lord does
nothing, without revealing his plan to
his servants the prophets.
Amos 3:7
“The harvest is plentiful …”

Is there anything wrong

with the harvest?
“… but the workers are few!”

Why are there not more workers?

Why are there not more workers?
“Ask the Lord of the harvest …”

Are you praying?

“… to send out workers …”

Are you personally,

being expelled?
“… into his harvest field.”
“This is to my Father’s glory,
that you bear fruit,
showing yourselves to be my
disciples.”
John 15:18
