Administration Console (On-
premises)
TIP: Existing customers may have already installed the Administration Console.

1. Review and ensure the Administration Console prerequisites are met.

2. Run the TitusAdminConsoleSetup.exe file.
The RedistServerAC folder must be in the same location as the installation file. Do
not run the setup from within the zip folder. Unzip the installation package and
record the location of the files.
3. If you have already installed your database, select Connect to an existing SQL
Server instance. If not, select Create a Local SQL Express instance and Microsoft
SQL Server Express will be installed as part of the Administration Console
installation.
4. Once the license agreement is accepted, the installation will continue without
prompts until it is completed.
5. To launch the Administration Console, click Launch Administration Console.

Your license file includes the edition of the software that you purchased. Once you receive
it, download it to your machine.

1. Open the Administration Console.

2. Select the Licensing tab and click New.
3. Click Select file and then navigate to where your downloaded your license file.
NOTE: If you require cloud functionality in Data Classification for Microsoft Office,
your license will include a Cloud Storage Activation key. Once you have selected
your license file, click Cloud Storage Activation and enter the key.

4. Click Upload License.

The license file appears in the list.

NOTE: Licensefor Global Settings is used for settings that are applied across
Configurations.

Quick Start Guide www.fortra.com page: 5

Import a sample Configuration /

Import a sample Configuration

NOTE: The trial package contains a sample Configuration that can be imported into the
Administration Console. There is no requirement to use this sample Configuration. If
you want, you can create a new Configuration. See the Fortra's Data Classification Suite
(DCS) for Windows (On-premises) Use Case Guide and Fortra's Data Classification Suite
(DCS) Administration Console (On-premises) User Guide for more information.

The Configuration must be associated with a license file and be enabled before it can
viewed and deployed to test users.

1. Click the Configuration tab and then click Import.

The Import Configuration window appears.

2. Click Select file and navigate to the location of the sample Configuration (TCF) file.
Click OK.
The Configuration file is loaded into the Administration Console.
3. Select the Default and Enabled checkboxes.

Quick Start Guide www.fortra.com page: 6

Publish the Configuration as a TCPG file /

Publish the Configuration as a

TCPG file
Once you have created a Configuration in the Administration Console, you can publish it to a
file type (TCPG) that you distribute to other users in your organization. These files contain
all the settings, custom resources, and configured targets that will be consumed for use by
the client service. If no targets are configured, the default is used.

NOTE: You can publish the configuration to a JSON file for Fortra's Data Classification
for Windows Metadata SDK . For more information, see the Fortra's Data Classification
Suite (DCS) for Windows (On-premises) Metadata SDK Developers Guide.

NOTE: The default interval to detect a new or updated TCPG file is 60 minutes. To change
this interval, use the Sync Interval parameter in the System Settings of the DCS
Administration Console. See Change the sync interval to five minutes.

To publish a TCPG file:

1. Click the Configurations tab.

2. Click TCPG – Classification Suite Clients.
A Titus.new.tcpg file is saved to the local Download folder where you have the
Administration Console installed.
When distributed, the Client service will consume the file.

Quick Start Guide www.fortra.com page: 7

Deploy the Configuration file onto client machines /

Deploy the Configuration file onto

client machines
1. Copy the Titus.new.tcpg file created and saved in to the following location:
%ProgramData%\TITUS\
This file must be copied onto each client machine that is part of your trial
environment.
2. Restart the Titus Enterprise Client Service:
On the client machine, navigate to the Services console.
Either restart the Titus Enterprise Client Service or wait for a Configuration sync to
occur.
NOTE: By default, the Titus Enterprise Client Service will sync every 15 minutes
until a valid Configuration is detected.

Once you have completed the steps in this guide, you can use the Fortra's Data
Classification Suite (DCS) for Windows (On-premises) Use Case Guide included in your
package to continue your trial deployment.

NOTE: You can manually save the Titus.new.tcpg Configuration file to each client
machine as a quick way to set up for a trial or for testing purposes. During an actual
deployment, you can create a registry setting on multiple workstations to define the
location of the Configuration on a file share or a web server. This enables the
Administrator to save the Configuration file to one location. When a sync is performed,
the Configuration on each desktop is automatically updated with the version saved to
the defined location. The Registry Key to set is: Example file share path: \HKEY_LOCAL_
MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\TITUS\ServiceLocation ->
ConfigFileURI=\\server\share\path\path\TITUSConfigFile.tcpg Example web server
path: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\TITUS\ServiceLocation ->
ConfigFileURI=http://server.name.com/path/path/TITUSConfigFile.tcpg

Prerequisites
When performing a client install using the TitusClassificationSetup.exe file, the Client
Application Prerequisite Checker runs automatically. An information dialog appears when
one of the prerequisites for the DCS for Windows is missing or fails to start. The
Prerequisite Checker also generates an MSI log file containing the results. For more
information, see the Fortra's Data Classification Suite (DCS) for Windows (On-premises)
Deployment Guide.

NOTE: We recommend the Administration Console and the DCS for Windows be installed
on separate machines.

Installing
Install the Data Classification Suite on a separate machine from the Administration
Console. Elevated user permissions are required to perform this installation.

The RedistSuite folder must be in the same location as the installation file.

1. Extract (unzip) the installation package.

2. Close Microsoft Outlook and all open Office applications.
3. Run TitusClassificationSetup.exe.
4. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
NOTE: If you are installing Fortra's DCS for Desktop (On-premises), a Microsoft Explorer
restart is required before the product is enabled.
