3. eSAM DAS input / output prerequisites

In the basic configuration, the eSAM software will use the Ethernet port of the computer in order to
communicate over TCP/IP with IP analyzers.
If you need a RS232, RS485 or analog connection to the analyzers you must install one of the
additional modules which are listed here bolow:

3.1 Analog Inputs

A eSAM DAS can have a maximum of 64 analog inputs distributed over a combination of ADAM
modules.
Each ADAM module has a maximum number of analog inputs.

MAXIMUM NUMBER OF
ADAM MODULE CONNECTION
ANALOG INPUTS
4017 RS485 8
6017 TCP/IP 8
5017 TCP/IP 8

3.2 Analog Outputs

A eSAM DAS can have a maximum of 32 analog outputs distributed over a combination of ADAM
modules.
Each ADAM module has a maximum possible analog outputs.
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF

3.3 Digital Inputs

A eSAM DAS can have a maximum of 96 digital inputs distributed over a combination of ADAM
modules.
Each ADAM module has a maximum possible a digital inputs.
Some ADAM modules provide digital inputs and digital outputs.

4. Communication
4.1 Server - SAM Communication

Several types of communication can be used for communication between the XR/WEX server and the
data acquisition eSAM: analog (phone network), cellular (GSM/GPRS), router 3G/4G, Ethernet (IP)
and ADSL.
It is strongly recommended that you use the recommended hardware, ENVEA does not take
responsibility for malfunctioning with other equipment.

COMMUNICATION TYPE RECOMMENDED HARDWARE

MultiTech modem MT5656ZDX
Analog modem
Analog modem 56K V.92
Cellular modem MultiTech modem HTC-G3 GSM/GPRS
Router modem 3G/4G Router modem MultiTech MTR-H6
Ethernet Native 10/100/1000 Mbps
Netgear modem DM111P ADSL 2+
ADSL
& Netgear Router FVS318G

4.1 Remote Access to the DAS through the eSAM WEB interface

You can visualize the data remotely with a web browser through the web interface of the eSAM
Software.
If the eSAM is on your local network then use a standard web browser (Chrome, Firefox,…) and type
the IP address of your eSAM (see the documentation of the eSAM).
If you want to connect remotely to your eSAM from outside of your local network you need the following:
• Permanent Internet access at the place where you use the WEB browser.
• Router-modem 3G/4G (ref. Multitech MTR-H6 ) to be connected to the Data Acquisition System.
• Data mobile subscription for this router-modem. This must be a “M2M” type data subscription
with a Public IP address.
The Public IP address which will be given with this data subscription can be FIXED or most
DYNAMIC (a dynamic IP address can change over the time)
• If the Public IP address is DYNAMIC, you must subscribe to a service like DynDNS
(https://cart.dyn.com/checkout/#/) which will make the IP fixed so that you can reach the DAS
through the internet network even if the IP address has changed.
• If the public IP address is FIXED, there is no need to subscribe to a service like DynDNS.
Then you should configure your router-modem in order to open and secure the connection.
