NOTE
This manual contains the hardware and software prerequisites for all ENVEA software products.
This includes eSAM software for the data acquisition system (DAS), XR and WEX servers and related
software (WorkStation, SPC, ...). The prerequisites are valid for all software versions higher than and
including 6.2.
Please read this manual before installing your ENVEA software. If you need to prepare a
configuration not documented, please contact us.

1. Hardware prerequisites
The hardware requirements must be adapted to suit your needs; these are minimum configurations.
The following table lists the prerequisites for installing XR and eSAM software.
1.2 WEX
The hardware architecture of WEX system on an industrial site consists of two types:
• Centralized architecture: 1 PC with three software WEX CORE, WEX WorkStation and eSAM ;
• Distributed architecture: 1 PC with WEX CORE and WEX WorkStation, 1 PC with eSAM.
Depending on the architecture, the prerequisites for the WEX CORE and WEX WorkStation are presented
below:

An additional network card can be used to separate the three networks: Internet network, factory
network (MODBUS, OPC, etc.) and network analyzer.
(*4)
Minimum memory when using an SSD disk (no SWAP) or more than 400 channels.

Technical Note Hardware and Software Prerequisites 4. Communication
4. Communication
4.1 Server - SAM Communication
Several types of communication can be used for communication between the XR/WEX server and the
data acquisition eSAM: analog (phone network), cellular (GSM/GPRS), router 3G/4G, Ethernet (IP)
and ADSL.
It is strongly recommended that you use the recommended hardware, ENVEA does not take
responsibility for malfunctioning with other equipment.
4.1 Remote Access to the DAS through the eSAM WEB interface
You can visualize the data remotely with a web browser through the web interface of the eSAM
Software.
If the eSAM is on your local network then use a standard web browser (Chrome, Firefox,…) and type
the IP address of your eSAM (see the documentation of the eSAM).
If you want to connect remotely to your eSAM from outside of your local network you need the following:
• Permanent Internet access at the place where you use the WEB browser.
• Router-modem 3G/4G (ref. Multitech MTR-H6 ) to be connected to the Data Acquisition System.
• Data mobile subscription for this router-modem. This must be a “M2M” type data subscription
with a Public IP address.
The Public IP address which will be given with this data subscription can be FIXED or most
DYNAMIC (a dynamic IP address can change over the time)
• If the Public IP address is DYNAMIC, you must subscribe to a service like DynDNS
(https://cart.dyn.com/checkout/#/) which will make the IP fixed so that you can reach the DAS
through the internet network even if the IP address has changed.
• If the public IP address is FIXED, there is no need to subscribe to a service like DynDNS.
Then you should configure your router-modem in order to open and secure the connection.
