Re_Zero Ex Volume 3 Review
Re_Zero Ex Volume 3 Review
"And this Silver Flower Dance in Pictat earned Wilhelm two enemies who would be an inescapable
part of his life. Stride "Death Wish" Vollachia and "Eight-Arms" Kurgan."
It starts off with Wilhelm sent to prison after he intercepted the royal meeting. There, he meets a guy
named Olfe who was thrown into prison for his charisma of royal girls and they were both sent to a
prison of highly dangerous criminals. Wilhelm is broken out of prison by a person with a helmet
under the orders of the 40th ruler of Lugunica, Gionis.. In reality, it was Theresia who pushed for
Wilhelm to be freed as her only wish from the king. Theresia is worried that Wilhelm is going to leave
her again after disappearing for two years. Carol is also furious at how Wilhelm broke into the
ceremony. Grimm always tries to calm Carol down whenever she gets furious with Wilhelm. Wilhelm
is unsure of what to do to truly make Theresia relinquish the status as the Sword Saint. Wilhelm
meets with Olfe and gets advice from him on what to do. This isn't a problem Wilhelm could solve
with his sword. Olfe suggested he made it a problem he could solve with his sword. Wilhelm tries to
take on all of the strongest warriors on Lugunica including Bordeaux and Carol. He didn't tell
Theresia where he was going and she found out. Another alternative that is proposed by Gionis is
that if she gets married she can give up having to fight being the sword saint as she will be a wife
busy with her husband. Wilhelm prepares to marry Theresia but there's some problems. Her father
Veltol Astrea is against giving away his daughter to anyone and puts extra duty on Wilhelm who
became a commander with Grimm as his second in command now leading the new Zergev
Squadron. Bordeaux had retired with Wilhelm able to take over. Veltol sends Wilhelm off to duty on
his wedding day. Wilhelm has to take down some beast. I don't remember that part well. Theresia is
also very mad at Veltol for trying to constantly interfere with their wedding. Veltol's wife Tishua is
getting annoyed by his antics. Wilhelm, Grimm and the others make it back in time all dirty after the
battle for the wedding. Veltol walks Theresia down and Wilhelm and her kiss and get married.
Wilhelm shows his love not through words but with his actions. Then their honeymoon came and it
would end in trouble. Wilhelm and Theresia were given two months of a honeymoon by Jinois. But
her father Veltol ruins it by coming even against his wife Tishua's suggestion to not come. Theresia
gets very annoyed and gets in an argument with her father and they seem to often bicker. Veltol
explains he came here for another purpose: to get a piece of jewelry for his wife Tishua. This was the
only action Theresia appreciated about her father and thought their marriage was terrible. Veltol,
Theresia and Wilhelm are then forced to go look for jewelry with Veltol. The merchant there who
works there is then bothered by a menacing figure. His name is Stride and he looks like a major
antagonist and I have heard about him before. Stride soon realizes that Theresia is the Sword Saint.
Stride looks down on people, often calling them worthless and like they're wasting his time. Veltol
stands up to Stride and ends up getting hurt majorly. Stride places a curse on Veltol which infuriates
Theresia and Wilhelm. Theresia decides to take up the sword since she has no choice with Wilhelm.
Stride brings a bodyguard who belongs to the multiple arms tribe known as Kurgan. Kurgan is a
special case with eight arms. Stride is physically weak and relies on the others to do the fighting
rather than himself. He brings Kurgan so he can do the fighting for him. Theresia in her place
decides she will also bring someone to do the fighting for her in her stead which she chooses
Wilhelm. Stride originally thinks that Wilhelm is some nobody but later takes back that statement.
Theresia believed Wilhelm could take down Kurgan and that even though Kurgan was the second
strongest person she met, she believed Wilhelm was stronger and could take him down. The fight
between Kurgan and Wilhelm started and neither could land a decisive blow. The blows went back
and forth with neither taking the lead. It was a fancy dance of the swords which Kurgan seemed very
amused about. Kurgan hadn't had an opponent like this in a long time and it was one of his only
senses of joy. There was also a danger Kurgan suggested if he won. Kurgan was going to take
Theresia for himself as his wife. Kurgan could breed a strong child with the sword saint as his wife.
Wilhelm had to take this battle very seriously because he didn't want to lose Theresia under any
circumstances. Wilhelm takes out a few of Kurgan's arms and is bleeding very heavily. Stride stops
the battle before it can end and says that they can take the win. Stride pulls out a ring which seems
to be the curse linked on Veltol and Theresia breaks it. Wilhelm gained a lot of respect after Veltol
stood up for someone as menacing as Stride and thought highly of him after that especially after
hearing he stood up for him and said he was a part of the family even if he's very overprotective and
acts like Wilhelm is a nuisance. Veltol loses function of one of his hands and asks to promise that
Wilhelm will keep it a secret from Theresia. Wilhelm promises and Theresia never learns about
Veltol's injury to keep her from feeling bad and regretful. Wilhelm from then on thought of Veltol as
the best swordsman he looked up to and thought highly of and would instantly say his name when
asked. Wilhelm would also have a grudge he could no longer forget on Stride and Kurgan after that
day. There was also a bit of a focus on Carol and Grimm and their romance. Carol and Grimm spent
a lot of time during the battle with Carol trying to make Grimm stronger even though he was very
weak. They both spent a lot of time together and after Grimm lost his voice Carol felt really bad and
started showing her feelings of love towards him. Grimm kisses Carol and she lets him and it begins
their feelings of love. Later at Wilhelm and Theresia's wedding a flower is passed to Carol implying
she will be the next person to find happiness. She stands next to Grimm very happy as Grimm holds
the flower up with joy. Grimm was the only one who saw a different side of Carol and she wanted to
keep it that way. Carol looked up to Theresia a lot and saw her like a sister so her wedding was very
important to Carol. Another interesting thing I didn't know is that Valga Cromwell who fought in the
demi human war is actually Old Man Rom. Rom must of come to appreciate humanity and later had
a sort of granddaughter figure with Felt. This makes me feel more for Rom knowing how he was a
legend back in the demi human war and his growth of character development from someone who
hated all of humanity to a loving grandpa like figure to felt. Felt and Rom both deeply care for each
other and I'm glad Rom could see the good in humanity and the effects a war can have after decades
have passed between the relations between the demi humans and humans entering a state of more
harmony rather than violence. Overall, there two volumes were masterpieces expanding the world of
Re:Zero, diving into the demi human war and the past of Wilhelm more who is one of my favorite
characters. I loved to see the growth of Wilhelm and how he changed from someone who only lived
for the sword to someone who fought to protect the one he loved.
