EE250-T07

The document is a tutorial for EE250: Control Systems, focusing on root locus analysis and feedback systems. It includes questions about feedback type, open loop transfer function, marginal stability, and the design of a proportional controller to achieve a specific overshoot. Students are required to analyze the root locus plot and provide calculations and arguments based on the given system parameters.

EE250: Control Systems Tutorial 07

Write only relevant data and explanation.

Name: Roll no:

Q1. Given below is the root locus of a system with gain K > 0.

Answer the following:

Is the system in negative feedback interconnection or positive feedback interconnection? (Reasons)

Find the open loop transfer function of the system.

Find the value of K for which the system is marginally stable. Indicate the closed loop pole
locations on the root locus for such a value of K.

Argue using the root locus plot that the following statement is false:
“The closed loop system is always stable”.

Using the information provided in the root locus, find the value of K at
which there are multiple roots on the real axis.
Q. Design a proportional controller such that the maximum overshoot is 53% ± 1% for Q1.
