The document explains relative cell references in spreadsheet formulas, highlighting that they adjust based on the position of rows and columns when copied. It provides an example of how to create a formula to calculate total marks by adding subject marks and emphasizes the convenience of using relative references for repetitive calculations. The document concludes with instructions on copying the formula across multiple rows.

RELATIVE CELL REFERENCE
 The default cell references are relative references.

RELATIVE
CELL
REFERENCE
• When copied across multiple cells, they
change based on the relative position of
rows and columns.

• For example, if you copy the formula =

b2+c2+d2+e2 from row 2 to row 3, the
formula will become = b3+c3+d3+e3.
Relative references are especially
convenient whenever you need to
repeat the same calculation across
multiple rows or columns.
• Press Enter key on the keyboard. The formula
will be calculated, and the result will be
displayed in the cell.
TO CREATE AND COPY A FORMULA USING
RELATIVE REFERENCE :-

In the following example, we want to

create a formula that will calculate the
total marks by adding the marks of each
subject. It is better to create a formula
and copy the formula for each row rather
than to create a formula for each row.
Here in the example below we have
written the formula in the cell F2 and drag
it below or double click the auto fill
option or copy it to the other rows. The
cells will be relatively changed
 Here is the picture below after copying the formula
for each of the rows.
