1. Type the following passage the way it appear and use it to answer the questions that follow;
attempt all the questions

Computer organization

Computer organization helps optimize performance-based products. They may need to optimize
software in order to gain the most performance at the least expense. This can require quite detailed
analsis of the computer organization. For exmple, in a multimedia decoder, the designers might ned to
arrange for most data to be processed in the fastest data path and the various components are assumed
to be in place and task is to investigate the organizational structure to verify the computa parts
operates. Computer organization also helps plan the selection of a processor for a particular project.
Maltimedia projects may need very rapid data access, while supervisory softwaya may need fast
interrupts. Sometimes certain tasks need additional components as well. For example, a computer
capable of virtualization needs virtual memory hardware so that the memory of different simulated
computers can be kept separated. For example, software engineers need to know the processing ability
of processors.

a) Centre the Title and embolden it, in title case, font size 18 and underlined
b) Spell check the entire passage
c) Change the line spacing of your paragraphs to 1.5 spacing and justify their alignment.
d) Drop the first letter “C” in the first paragraph by three lines.
e) Cut the last sentence “For example, software engineers need to know the processing ability of
processors.” And paste it after the first sentence.
f) Change the font of the entire passage to Algerian and font style to regular.
g) With exception of the title, change the entire passage to two columns
h) Insert footer of the document as Technology.
i) Apply a page border of your own choice.
j) Save the work as Comp_Organization

Questions

(i). Use a formula to calculate the temperature for Nakuru, given that the temperature for Nakuru is
¾ that of Mombasa.
(ii). Create two blank rows below Row 1.
(iii). Type “Temp. in degrees Celsius” in Cell A2 and “Temp. in degrees Fahrenheit” in Cell A9.
(iv). Calculate the temperature in F using the conversion factor given as F=(C+19)*9/5.
(v). Insert a blank row before Nakuru and enter the row heading Kericho in both temperature
versions.
(vi). Calculate the temperature for Kericho in both versions given that it is 4/5 that of Kisumu.
(vii). Type “Average Temp. (C)” in Cell G3 and “Average Temp. (F)” in Cell G11 respectively. Calculate
the average temperatures for all the towns.
(viii). Format all cells containing the temp. values to zero decimal places with no commas.
(ix). Format all cells containing Average Temp. to Arial Black, Italics, size 12.
(x). Centre the Titles across columns A and G.
(xi). Put a double border round the whole table and a single line border inside the table. Shade the
column for Average temperature gray.
(xii). Use the Average values (C) in column G to create a 3-D Exploded Pie Chart to show distribution of
temperature for the towns.
The title should be “Average Temp. (C)”. Use the text in column A as the legend. In the data
labels, select Show Value.

(xiii). Move the chart created above to Sheet3. Do not insert it as an object.
(xiv). Move the left top corner of the chart in Sheet3 to cell A7. Resize the chart to fit into the range
A7:h20.
(xv). Save the worksheet as Weather.

Using the content layout, create a chart on a new slide to depict the following data. The data records
the number of people in the audiences of three different presentations who were asleep after 10, 20,
30 and 40 minutes. (One presentation contained text-only slides, the second contained graphics,
and the third contained animation effects).
The resulting chart should look something like the following:

4. Now run the slide in slide show view to have a look at these animation effects.
1. Go to slide one. Create a mouse click action button with a forward arrow that takes you to
the next slide in the presentation.
2. Go to slide number 3 of the presentation. Create a mouse click action button with a picture
of your choice that takes you to slide 4.
3. On slide number 4 create a mouse OVER action button that takes you to slide number 1.
4. Go to slide number 3 of the presentation. Inser the text Jeremy and make this a hyperlink to
the any website.
5. Go to the last slide in the presentation and create a mouse click action button that takes you
back to the beginning of the presentation.

Ms. Publisher Exercise

1. You have been assigned with the job of designing schedule of events for a premier league. Using
the Tab options create an admirable schedule of events in the following order.
Set the first tab stop to 0.5’’, left alignment and leader to none. Set the second tab stop to 3’’, centre
alignment and leader to none. Set the third tab stop to 6.5’’ right alignment and leader number two (2).
When creating your schedule, try to be consistent to the following order; Names of the teams to play,
Venue and Date/Time, for example:

Note: The names of the teams are not necessarily to be exact; you can use names of your own choice
but should be at least of ten teams. Be creative and original; customize your work to look cool and
attractive.

Save the word document as Premier_league_schedule.

MS Access Exercise
Create a database file, which will require you to create one table, one query, one form, and one
report.
Create table: CUSTOMERS
Create the field names and their properties as you need them to store your specific data for
customers. You will have at least five customers with their information included in your
customer table.
