The document provides a formula sheet for coordinate geometry for Class IX students at St. Anthony's School. It defines key terms such as abscissa and ordinate, and outlines the characteristics of the four quadrants in a Cartesian plane. It notes the relationship between the coordinates in opposite quadrants.

ST. ANTHONY’S SCHOOL GIRLS’

abscissa x coordinate

ordinate y coordinate

QUADRANTS:
1st Quadrant both x and y coordinates are positive

2nd Quadrant x coordinate negative

y coordinate positive

3rd Quadrant both x and y coordinates are negative

4th Quadrant y coordinate negative

x coordinate positive

NOTE:

In 1st and 3rd quadrant the opposite happens.

MEANING
