2. Detailed Description of the Learning Activity


By the end of this activity, students will be able to:
✓ Interpret and orally produce sentences and conversations describing
past situations using used to, present perfect, comparatives and
superlatives through audio recordings, videos and interactions with
peers.

The activity consists of:


Reviewing modules 3,4,5 and 6, writing a short text, listening
comprehension, speaking practice, making and sending a video and
completing a self-assessment

To develop this activity, follow these steps:
Step 1. CONTENT REVIEW
1.1 Go to Learning environment / E-book /Online Content English B1.
Study the content of modules 3,4,5 & 6 and do all the activities in
those modules.
1.2 Write a short description of an influential person in your region
using the past simple, present perfect, and adjectives. You can
guide yourself following the examples in Module 5 - Exercise 6
Information About Famous People.
Step 2. LISTENING COMPREHENSION

2.2 Answer the following questions using the present perfect and past
simple.
QUESTIONS
a. Why did Greta Thunberg start to be concerned about climate change?
b. Have you noticed any change in the environment of your region?
Mention some of them.
2.3. Post your answers in the forum and comment on your classmates’
answers.

LEARNING TIP.
Use the present simple, past simple, present perfect, and comparatives
or superlatives when writing your answers to steps 1 and 2.

Step 3. SPEAKING PRACTICE
Choose one of these options:
Option A: Attendance at three (3) practical workshops STT or B.
synchronous moment.
a. Attendance at practical workshop STT:
During the academic process, it is important to participate in
practical workshops called STT (Student Talking Time). To
complete this step:

3.1 Participate in three (3) practical workshops.


3.2 Take screenshots during the workshops and put them in the final
document (Annex 2). Make sure you include the date, time and
tutor in charge of the workshops you attend.

Keep in mind:

✓ The tutor will share the schedule of the workshops that will be
programmed.
✓ Make sure you use the correct link to join the desired workshop.
✓ During the practical workshops, it is important to participate
actively and interact with your peers and tutor.
✓ Do not forget to turn on the camera during the session.
✓ You can participate in any workshop led by any tutor.

Option B: Synchronous meeting with your tutor.


Please take into account that you should choose this option only
in case you can’t attend any of available practical workshops in
option A.
This option consists of a synchronous meeting with your tutor and
probably other classmates, to put into practice your speaking
competence.
a. Contact your tutor well in advance to agree on a schedule for
the synchronous meeting. Meetings will not be scheduled
during the last week of the activity.
b. Choose one of the articles from your magazine in task 2 (Be You or
Be Green) and prepare a presentation with slides for your tutor.

Step 4. RECORD A VIDEO
Record a video using one of the articles you shared in your magazine
from task 2. For your speaking presentation via video, please bear in
mind the following:
4.1. Choose one of the articles from your magazine (‘Be You’ or ‘Be
Green’) and create some slides to help you during the video. Avoid using
large amounts of text on your slides; focus on key ideas instead.
4.2. Record the video showing your face and presenting the slides you
created. Your video must be no longer than 3 minutes.
4.3. Upload your video to YouTube, Google Drive or OneDrive. Make
sure it has public access and share the link in the final document and
in the forum.

Step 5. SELF-ASSESSMENT
5.1. Reflect on your performance in the course activities
5.2. Complete the six items in the self-assessment included in annex 2.
5.3 Take a screenshot and share it in the forum.

Step 6. FINAL DOCUMENT

6.1. Consolidate all the activities done in this task in a PDF document
using Annex 2 (file Annex 2 - Final template - Task 4 - Oral production -
Voices in Motion).
6.2 Upload the document individually to the Learning and Evaluation
environment. Remember that the product of this task must comply with
the APA standards.

3. Guidelines for Developing and Submitting Learning Evidence

Learning evidence refers to the actions, products, or observable processes


that are done or delivered to demonstrate acquired capabilities, skills, and
attitudes. These serve to allow the teacher to assess student performance
effectively.
• The evidence of individual work to be presented is a PDF document
with the following: A cover.
• Step 1: A text about the description of an influential person in your
community.
• Step 2: The answers to the questions about Greta Thunberg's
interview.
• Step 3: The evidence of attendance at three (3) practical
workshops or the evidence of the meeting with your tutor.
• Step 4: The link to the video you recorded.
• Step 5: The completed “self-assessment included in annex 2.
The evidence of collaborative work is:
Step 2: The comments you made to your classmates on the forum.
Upload your PDF document in the section Task 4 – Oral Production,
Voices in motion Evaluation rubric and activity submission. Use the
template Annex 2 to organize your work.
For developing and submitting evidence, please consider the following
guidelines:
✓ Please note that all independent or group written products must
comply with spelling and mechanics standards and the submission
conditions defined in this activity guide.
✓ Regarding the use of references, consider that the product of this
activity must comply with the APA style.
✓ In any case, comply with the referencing standards and avoid
academic plagiarism. To do so, review your written products with
the Turnitin tool available on the virtual campus.

4. Academic Situations
Consider that in Agreement 029 of December 13, 2013, Article 99, the
following actions are considered as offenses against academic order,
among others: item e) "Plagiarism, that is, presenting as one's own the
entirety or part of a work, paper, document, or invention created by
another person. It also includes the use of false citations or references or
proposing citations where there is no match between the citation and the
reference," and item f) "Reproducing or copying, for profit, educational
materials or results of research products that have intellectual property
rights reserved for the University."
The academic sanctions that the student will face are as follows:
a) In cases of proven academic fraud in the respective academic work or
evaluation, the grade imposed will be zero points without prejudice to the
corresponding disciplinary sanction.
b) In cases related to proven plagiarism in academic work of any nature,
the grade imposed will be zero points, without prejudice to the
corresponding disciplinary sanction.
