You have to create your company first:-
❑Create Company – To create a company where you will work.
❑Alter Company – It is used to edit or delete the company.
❑Select Company – To Open your company which is already created.
❑Shut Company – It is used to close the company temporarily.
❑Backup – Used to make a backup for a company to restore it after deleting.
❑Restore – Used to restore the company which had backup.

➢If you already created a company and want to set a password, you have to do these
steps.

Inventory Masters
Inventory Info - Inventory info is helpful in the classification of Stock Items. You can group
Stock Items under different Stock Groups to reflect their classification based on some
common features such as brand name, product type, quality, and so on.
Stock Category - Stock Categories are basically the categorization of stock items of similar
features belonging to different stock groups. E.g.- If the company is dealing with TVs. The
company's inventory might consist of TVs from different brands like LG, Sony, Philips, etc.

Alias - Alias function in tally is a good function. It creates alternate Names of Ledgers and
Names of Items in seconds.
Godown - A Godown is a place where stock items are stored.

Accounting Vouchers
It is the main part of the tally. In this, we make entries using Credit – Debit but there are
many entries so it is separated with different vouchers. So first we need to understand
these vouchers.
F5: Payment Voucher – It is used for payment to the parties by cheque and cash.

F6: Receipt Voucher – It is used for receiving the amount from the parties by cheque and cash.
F7: Journal Voucher – It is used for adjustable entries.
F8: Sales Voucher – It is used for sales the goods.
F9: Purchase Voucher – It is used for Purchasing goods.
Reversing Journal Voucher – It is used in future payments by cheque and cash.
Alt + F6: Credit Note – It is used for sales return entries.
Alt + F5: Debit Note – It is used for purchase return entries.
Memo – It is used to memorize entries in Tally.
Note - For Credit/Debit Note - Gateway of Tally - Vouchers - press F10 (Other Vouchers) -
Type or select Debit Note - and press Enter

Closing Stock - Closing stock is referred to as the number of unsold goods that remain
with the business on a given date.
Compound Entries - A compound journal entry is an accounting entry in which there is
more than one debit, more than one credit, or more than one of both debits and credits.
Note – if you want to edit the already created ledger in the voucher so you just select the ledger
in the voucher – Ctrl + Enter

Bill-wise Detailed
Bill-wise Details' is used to track the details of any already made or due payments and
also to generate payables or receivables reports with minimum effort.
Method of Adjustment
New Ref – Select when you are recording a fresh transaction, to generate a new bill for
the party. ( It will apply only on Purchase and Sales vouchers).
Agst Ref – It is used to receive or pay the amount of the party's bill.
Advance – It is used for receiving the advance payment.
On Account – it is used if the cheque is bounced.

What is the use to set a credit limit?
By setting credit limits for your buyer or customer, you will be able to effectively manage
your receivables.
How to set a credit limit?
Go to Gateway of Tally - Accounts Info - Ledgers - Create or Alter – F12 – (Yes) Show more
configuration – (Yes) Provide credit limits - Accept

➢Using the Day Book feature you can check out the summary of the transaction also you
can edit, delete and hide the transactions.
➢To access – Gateway of Tally – Display – Day Book – Enter

Enter – It is used for editing the transaction.

Ctrl + U – It is used to unhide the Transaction.

Day Book options
Alt + A – It is used to open the same new voucher.
Alt + I – It is used to insert the new voucher between your selected voucher.
Stock Item Reports – A stock item report is used for receiving all information about the
stock like - Where did you buy the goods, at which price buy, at which price sold, and
how much goods are remains.

Ctrl + L – Optional voucher
Optional vouchers allow you to see the impact of transactions without actually posting
them.
Note – Before using “optional Voucher”, go on the other vouchers – Enable “Reversing
Journal and option Voucher” – Accept
Alt + P is used for the print of any voucher in Tally Prime.

Reversing Journal Voucher
It is used for future payment with cash/ Bank.
There are many payments that come in future payments. Like - your helper/Staff worked
for you and you are going to pay him salary next month so it comes in future payments.
For Ex – In the month of march after managing the transaction you got a 50,000 profit
but you pay the rent of the march on the 1st of April so from the 50,000 you have to
deduct the rent and then you will get the proper profit.

Memorandum Voucher
It is used for remembering the lent amount.
Suppose you gave 1,000/- Rs. To your staff for bringing something but you don’t know
how much will be spent from 1,000/- so you just want to remember the given amount.
For this, we can use a memorandum voucher.
Note – It will not affect other transactions.

Post–Dated Voucher
It is used for future cheque payments.
Suppose the customer gave you the cheque for the payment but the date on the cheque
is mentioned 10 days later. so this type of cheque comes in a post-dated cheque.
For Post-dated voucher – Payment Voucher - Press Ctrl + T – Change the date to 1st may –
Do debit and credit – it will be done.

Godown
A Godown is a place where stock items are stored.
Suppose your business is spread into different cities or you have different Godowns for
managing your stock. So You may use this option.

Stock Voucher
Using an inventory voucher you can transfer the goods from one location to other
location.
Suppose you have 1,000 kg of rice in Delhi Godown and 3,000 kg in Noida Godown. Now
we are going to transfer 1000 kg of rice from Noida to Delhi Godown.

Payroll - The payroll feature provides management-related information, statutory forms,
and reports in the prescribed formats such as Pay Slips, Payroll Statements, Attendance,
and Overtime Registers. Gratuity, Provident Fund (PF), Employee State Insurance (ESI),
and National Pension Scheme (NPS).
After enabling the payroll voucher you will have to create payroll masters.
