Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370: A Renewed Call for Hope and a Renewed Campaign

of Search

Maybe it feels like a movie script but it isn’t. A horrible yet mysterious incident occurred in
the history of mankind.
It was on that fateful day of March 8, 2014, when yet another airplane, Malaysian Airlines
flight MH370 authorized to leave Kuala Lumpur, did so and after that, no one was able to
transmit signals from it, and consequently, one more unresolved incident came to be in the
history of aircrafts.

Despite endless and exhausting efforts to conduct a sweep, there is still no information
about the ill-fated plane, and the incident continues to be of the highest interest to people
internationally. In fact, its occurrence has given rise to additional inquiries regarding the fate
of the airplane and the reasons that brought it down in the Indian Ocean, yet no clear
elucidation has been found.

Disappearance and Initial world Search Attempt.

The aircraft was being piloted by Captain Zaharrie Ahmad Shah and the first Fariq Abdul
Hamid and he was noted to be still under training. The aircraft disappeared from radar a few
minutes into entering Vietnamese airspace, causing immediate confusion in both Malaysia
and Vietnam airspaces. This breakdown in communication and the abrupt off-hook of the
radios worsened the already growing puzzle of the flight.

This led to a comparative worldwide search effort under which 34 vessels and 28 planes
from seven countries were involved. Despite the commitment, no remnant of the airplane
was ever seen, highlighting how difficult it is to establish the raison d’être of any airplane lost
in the gigantic ocean. Announcements emerging from that investigation revealed that the last
sighting of the plane indicated that the flight was heading in the direction of the Andaman
and Nicobar Islands – which is unlike the plane’s original intended course to Beijing.

Satellite Data and Disappearance Theories

Indeed there has been enough data from forementioned military radar and satellite deployed
at MH370’s time and final presumed flight path has been drawn slightly towards the northern
direction than its original destination. The final geolocation of the aircraft was assumed using
the satellite’s signal attempts even though the exact location coordinates were never shared.
By the use of satellite antennas elevations and beam width, the correct geometrical position
for the aircraft to have landed was sought which was the 7th arc in the South Indian Ocean.

Despite the extensive and directed search operations along the 7th Arc and the use of sonar
technology to cover the ocean floor, no airplane traces were still found, leading to
speculation. Most experts consider one of the theories in particular to be the most credible
interpretation. According to which everyone aboard the aircraft lost consciousness as a
result of hypoxia, and thus the aircraft was flying with no human intervention. Eventually,
when the aircraft ran out of fuel, it was forced to crash into the ocean.
Recent Discoveries and Fresh Search Efforts.

The quest of finding MH370 soon became one of the biggest and resources-draining
missions in general air transport, with a bill estimated at approximately $160 million. Its early
phases concluded with embarrassment of all stakeholders when after extensive scouring of
the sea floor yielded no positive results. In 2015, however, a wonderful suprise came when a
piece of an aircraft- later conclusive as being a flaperon was found in Reunion Island. Such
discovery gave new hopes to all search of MH370.

By 2018, the Malaysian Ministry of Transport had seized the services of a private underwater
search vessel, Ocean Infinity, to continue operation under the no charge if not found basis.
The team covered the entire infrastructure of the ocean during one search operation and
using their provided tools investigated the places suspected of containing the plane. There
however, the debris was discovered on the shores of Africa and those surrounding it
suggesting the possibility of the aircraft being found.

Innovative Practices and Modern Technologies

Researchers have located new tools very recently to look for the possibility where MH370 is
likely to be found. In a model developed in former years, Richard Godfrey, a British aviation
engineer, has created a computer programme which determines flight paths by means of
examining the faint traces of radio waves. It appears from his investigation that the
passenger aircraft is somewhere on the 7th Arc, however, it is the new site which has not so
far been scrutinized.

On further analysis, the area of search will be confined to a 40 nautical mile radius as
opposed to the previous larger range. Such an adjustment can be attributed to new
investigations from Drift Analysis which verified the conclusion that the wreckage of MH370
also struck some islands after following certain periods of time conducive to the current
ocean drift flows.

Today, given the current development of satellites and sonar, experts argue that the mystery
can be finally solved through involving in a new search. For instance, it has been reported
that Ocean Infinity is planning to continue the hunt for MH370 in the year 2024,
suppociatedly with more advanced devices. It is this activity which is expected to revive hope
among the aviation community in general and the patients of the individuals who traveled to
the South Africa whose commuter aircraft has never been found, in particular.

The Contuining Mystery

Until the year 2025, the search for MH370 is still the most demanding one in the sphere of
aviation investigation. Nonetheless, despite the advances made in technologies and the
research being carried outside the surface, there are no conclusive marks. Even though
some of the causes such as pilots killing themselves, the failure of the engines, or hijacking,
have been considered the case has not yet been closed. In Maruary 2018 \figure three
additional debris found respectively in Madagascar and Mozambuque States helped get
other breaking news however no satisfactory closure was drawn.
The search for MH370 will be facilitated by drones and supervised by Ocean Infinity in 2024.
Intending to launch their latest autonomous submersible vehicles, Ocean Infinities operation
is to start soon named 2024 mission. This is because it will focus on the refined satellite data
and ocean drift patterns to determine where the drones will be deloyed to. This time if the
salvage attempt should come off though, it will conclusively yield this problem thus also
attending to the safety of the passengers and the crew of 239 aforementioned.

The mysterious disappearance of flight MH370 is undoubtedly still one of the biggest
mysteries and caused an odious memory of a state of no solution, to seek wreckage inside
vast Oceans. The idea of improvement in technology encourages a possibility of some of the
solutions being found. As for now, such questions remain and lead to the research and
interest of the public.
