1. Holiday trip

Subject: my beloved trip
Dear Jo,
How’s it going? I’ve heard you’ve just completed your own novel. How amazing!
Today, I'm writing this email to tell you about my 4-day trip to celebrate Vietnam's
Reunification Day and Labor Day.
After such a gruelling examination, I was so excited about the long trip to blow off
some steam. My family began our journey to Sam Son beach and we stayed in a
nearby hotel for 2 days. I was so thrilled when I jumped into the clear water and
had a chance to taste the exotic seafood. On the next day, we headed for an
unfamiliar destination called “Van Long Sheep Pen”, which was quite a
disappointment because there were much fewer sheep than I had expected and their
fleece had mostly been cut off. Being so tired, I decided to stay at home on the
final day and sleep to recharge my battery.
What about you? How’s your holiday? Please write to me later.
Love,
Peter
3. One of your relatives was infected with COVID-19 and stayed in hospital for 2
weeks for treatment. Now he/she has recovered and come back to work. On
behalf of your relatives, write a letter to the medical team at the hospital to
express appreciation to the doctors and nurses who cared for him/her.

Dear the medical team of Mayo Hospital,
On behalf of my aunt, who has fully recovered after contracting coronavirus, I am
writing this email to express our deep gratitude to the hospital staff members for
your whole-hearted treatment.
When my aunt was diagnosed with Covid-19 three weeks ago, she was so nervous
because she had some underlying medical conditions, which put her in grave
danger. However, thanks to the professional work ethic and the concerted effort of
the doctors and nurses, she felt so relieved and comfortable throughout her time at
the hospital. Not only did the staff treat her with their hearts, but they also gave her
some invaluable advice on how to acclimatize after being discharged from the
hospital.
Again, our family is deeply indebted for the efficient services and the amiable
attitude of all the medics. Please continue to be our strongest warriors and keep
your spirits up to help more patients overcome this global pandemic.
Yours faithfully
Jo Max
4.A public event is going to be held in your neighborhood, and you think that
your friend will be interested in it. Write an email to your friend, in your email
you should:
- Introduce the event
- Explain what you think it might attract your friend
- Say when and where to meet each other when attending the event
Hi Peter,
How’s it going? Have you completed your final project? I’m writing this letter to
let you know about “Inflaming day”, which is an annual event in my
neighborhood.
“Inflaming day” is basically an event in which plenty of activities are organized.
Sports competitions, traditional crafts, food parties, and campfires are all included
in this event. As you are a professional footballer, I think it’s going to be a blast for
you to join in on my part because as you have already known, I’m terrible at
football. Besides, there will be some kinds of mouth-watering chocolate cakes,
which is your go-to dessert of all time, so you should come and give it a try. If you
decide to join, please come to my house at 8 am on the 10th of June.
I am looking forward to seeing you.
Love,
Jo
5.Recently the local council wants to construct a shopping mall on the site of the
park in your neighborhood. Write your email to the council expressing your
opinion.
Dear Montana’s council,
I am Jo Max, a resident of Montana. I am writing this email to express my dismay
at the demolition of the central park to make way for a shopping mall.
As far as I am concerned, the local council is planning to construct a shopping mall
in the next 2 months on the site of the park. However, the residents living in the
vicinity have not been informed about the replacement except for some word-of-
mouth rumors. The park has been of paramount importance to us as it is a place
full of fresh air and great comfort. It would be such a pity if this park is substituted
by a shopping center, though each has its own perks.
I suggest the council could take into account a piece of the vacant land behind the
Bransford High School to build a shopping mall there and keep the park intact.
I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Jo Max
6. Your school has decided to organize a speaking English course for a limited
number of students. Write an email to the principal of your school. In your email
you should
- express your desire to join the course
- explain how you can benefit from the course
- explain why you should be selected
Dear Mr. William-the principal of Bransford High School,
I am Jo Max, a student in class 10A1. I’m writing this email to ask you for my
participation in the speaking English course at our school.
My teacher has introduced this course to me and I was so intrigued when hearing
her review about this course. She said that the lessons would be taught by some
English professors and there would be numerous group activities, which made me
feel both edgy and exhilarated. I believe I can not only enhance my English level
but also expand my social circle if I am permitted to take part in this community.
As I am majoring in English, I will be fluent and confident when talking with
native speakers if you allow me to join this course.
I am looking forward to hearing your acceptance email.
Yours faithfully,
Jo Max
7. You are going to organize the 16th bday party. Write an email to your friend
to invite him/her
Hi Peter,
How’s it going? Have you come back from your trip to Europe? Anyway, I’m
writing this email to invite you to my 16th birthday party.
My birthday is on 1st September, as you’ve already known. This year, I'll organize
a party at my house instead of going to a restaurant as there will be more people to
cater for than last year. The party will start at 6 pm so don’t be late as usual. You
will be able to enjoy the scrumptious BBQ first, and then follow a music show
with folks dancing and singing. Next, we will make a campfire and gather around
to share our stories with each other while devouring the birthday cake. It’s going to
be a whale of a time.
I hope to see your punctual arrival at my party, bro. See ya.
Love,
Jo
9. You are the president of the youth club in your school. On behalf of the
members, write an email to invite a famous person to give a speech at one of
your club’s meetings. In your email you should
I am Jo Max, the president of Luong Van Tuy ’s youth club. On behalf of the club
members, I am writing this email to cordially invite you to give an inspiring speech
at the final club meeting of this school year.
Luong Van Tuy‘s youth club was established 3 years ago. The aim of our club is to
help students expand their bonds with friends and engage in numerous social
activities. As far as I am concerned, you are a wonderful woman with amazing
talents, a warm heart, and most importantly, a desire to develop yourself and give
assistance to other people. Thus, I would hope to see your presence at the meeting
to deliver a talk about your journey to define yourself and follow your dreams. The
meeting will be held on the 25th of May, at Luong Van Tuy High School For The
Gifted, Ninh Binh City.
Your appearance will be a great joy to all the members of the club. We are looking
forward to your acceptance email.
Yours sincerely,
Jo Max
10. Recently you went on a holiday with your family and lost a quite valuable
item. Fortunately, your father bought travel insurance for all family members,
which will cover the cost of anything lost. Write an email to the manager of the
insurance company.
11. Recently you have gone one a trip to a village in Ninh Binh and stayed at a
local homestay. In the feedback, write a letter to the owner of the homestay
- say what you liked about the homestay and what you were not satisfied with
- suggest what the owner should do to improve to conditions of the homestay
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am one of the travelers who were on a tour to Ninh Van village and stayed in the
“Jumanji homestay”. I am writing this letter to express my feelings and some
suggestions for your homestay.
The time I was catered for at your place was truly satisfying. What I adore most is
the view from the homestay. The windows overlooked the vast paddy field and the
crystal-clear water in the river, which somehow helped immerse me in nature.
Besides, I was amazed by the amiable and attentive attitude of the host family,
which was a great pleasure. However, the number of mosquitoes, especially during
the night, made me rather itchy and upset. Hence, I suggest you should consider
providing insect repellent to holiday-makers so that they can have a better
experience in your homestay.
These are some comments on my visit. I hope you will take them into account to
improve the quality of your homestay in the future.
Yours sincerely,
