1 GENERAL
1.1 Purpose
This standard summarizes the general requirements of components and assemblies that are designated
appearance items. It provides summary information and definitions of terms specific to general
appearance items. It reviews development processes within the context of the Program Plan for Global
Vehicle Development (GVD) and provides references for classification criteria and evaluation
requirements.
This standard supports certain Stellantis Engineering Material (MS), Process (PS), Performance (PF),
Appearance (AS), Design (DS), Core Documents (CD), Characteristic (CS) Standards, Supporting (SD)
Documents, Procedure (PRO) and Laboratory (LP) Procedures pertaining to designated appearance
items
This standard focuses only on the visual/tactile characteristics of the components that the Customer can
see and/or touch. Dimensional, functional or material requirements are not considered.
The requirements of this standard apply from the dates assigned in the Color and Texture Development
Process Map through volume production and service supply.
This standard represents the minimum general appearance requirements for all Stellantis LLC, and its
suppliers.
This standard is to be applied to CAD models of components identified as designated appearance items.
Some typical examples of designated appearance items by vehicle system are listed in Table 1.

3 DEFINITIONS/ABBREVIATIONS/ACRONYMS/SYMBOLS
Advanced Quality Planning (AQP): A structured method of defining and establishing the steps necessary
to assure that a newly developed part satisfies the customer.
Appearance Technical Approval Report (ATAR): A document submitted as part of the Production Part
Approval Process. Submission of a completed and approved Appearance Approval Report during PPAP
is required for all designated appearance items.
Appearance Item: A designation assigned to a vehicle component. Appearance items are components
with visible areas where color, gloss or texture/surface finish are considered to be significant quality
characteristics to the final customer and must be controlled from component development and release
through volume production and service applications. Typically appearance items are part numbers that
contain “TRM” or are 10 digit single-color part numbers (consider only parts visible at final vehicle build).
The Part Information Page (PIP) must include this Standard “AS-10119<A>” under “Standards” (refer to
Figure 1).
Assembly Plant Review: A review conducted at the assembly plant during, prior to, and/or after launch, to
evaluate appearance match of components of randomly sampled vehicles (ref: PRO.00005).
Global Vehicle Development (GVD): The Stellantis process for new vehicle development. Its key
principles are front loaded planning, reduced cycle times, assuring design feasibility, and achieving 100%
product/process design completion before launch. It incorporates amended milestones of VP (verification
of process build) and PS (pre-volume production build).
Cluster Norm: Stellantis specification that have been deemed as accepted by both groups as they are,
without making any technical modification.
CoDeP: Bill of Material and Product Configurator system used to describe all configurations of a vehicle,
mainly for EMEA & LATAM lead programs.
Color: An aspect of object appearance distinct from form, shape, size, position, or gloss that depends
upon the spectral composition of the incident light, the spectral reflectance or transmittance of the object,
and the spectral response of the observer, as well as the illuminating and viewing geometry (ASTM
E284).
Color and Texture Development Process Map: Color development milestones corresponding to timing
milestones outlined in the GVD for a given vehicle development program. These definitions are
summarized in Table 3:
Complete Master Color Number: an eight-character identification code mating the Master Number with
the Master Color Code (found in EBOM under “ENV7” screen).
Component Part List (CPL): The Craftsmanship database that identifies the interior, exterior trim,
underhood, and functional designated appearance items for a vehicle program, and the suppliers
responsible for all their appearance aspects. Typical matrix entries would include, but are not limited to,
ATAR tracking, texture type and timing, color submissions and timing, material type and supplier, tool
supplier and timing, and colorant type and supplier, etc.
Designated Appearance Item: A part whose color, gloss or surface texture/finish requirements is
specified by the Stellantis Product Design Office. Each of these specified requirements is identified by a
Master Number, Ornamentation Master Number or Mastering Aid.
Engineering Bill of Material (EBOM): A mainframe database application used at Stellantis for managing
design information of Engineering-released parts.
Gloss: Angular selectivity of reflectance, involving surface-reflected light, responsible for the degree to
which reflected highlights or images of objects may be seen as superimposed on a surface (ref: ASTM
E284, LP.7M032).
Grain: The arrangement or direction of fibers in wood, or the pattern resulting from this, can be either a
natural or man-made pattern.
Mapping/Marriage: For shared NAFTA & EMEA programs using EBOM/CN and CoDeP/ODM
respectively, information contained must be related according to the governing rules of Mapping (for part
numbers in EBOM/CoDeP) and Marriage (for CN/ODM).
Master Specimen: A physical property whose color, gloss, surface texture or appearance conforms to the
specified appearance requirements. All Master Specimens are specified and controlled by the FCA
Product Design Office appropriate Studio / Style and EPQ&D. Procurement of Master Specimens can be
found in PS-4559<A>.
Mastering Aid: A gloss or surface texture standard specified by the Stellantis Product Design Office.
Mastering Aids are published for designated appearance items in lieu of Trim Specification Reports or
Ornamentation Master Numbers when a specific color standard is not applicable. Physical specimens of
Mastering Aids are not routinely distributed. Examples of Mastering Aids appear in Table 4.
Master Color Code: For NAFTA, a three-character, alphanumeric identification code assigned to a
unique color by the Product Design Office. The Color Code is appended to the Master Number to
completely describe the finished appearance of a designated appearance item released under a Trim
Specification Report (found in EBOM under “ENVQ” screen). For EMEA, it is an alphanumeric
identification code assigned to a unique color by CoDeP group.
Page: 7/13

Change Level: M
Order Code: A two-character code appearing on a Trim Specification Report to designate a unique
vehicle color scheme (found in EBOM under “ENVX” screen).
Program Plan: The Stellantis method of managing vehicle development programs through the Global
Vehicle Development (GVD). The Program Plan describes the task deliverables, timing and the
responsible individual or organization for each activity during specific phases of product creation.
PPAP: Production Part Approval Process. The procedure used, by suppliers for submission of
production parts for customer approval, as outlined in the “PPAP Manual” available through the Covisint
web portal.
PVP Pre-Volume Production (PreSeries) Build: Home plant/line build to validate tooling, equipment and
verify facilities. Build vehicles for certification test plan. Components are produced by suppliers using
production tooling and equipment. Build of saleable vehicles for fast feedback and rental fleet feedback-
program. All components used must have completed the PPA (Process Planning and Audit) and
received full Production Part Approval Process warrants.
S00: A three position code that replaces the TRM of the ten positions EBOM trim color part number. The
three positions are in the 6th, 7th, and 8th position of the EBOM trim color part number. “S00” will appear in
most systems after Engineering has either disclosed or released the trim part number in EBOM and no
trim specifications have yet been created for that part usage.
1. The trim part suffixes the supplier will see will be “S00,” since no color explosion will occur before the
final color release Action Letter/Bulletin. Suppliers will need to get the color of their parts required for
VP pilots from either the Stellantis Engineer or from the Supplier Bulletin Board, not from PDO.
2. Purchase orders will be created for trim part suffix “S00” to enable suppliers to get paid for the parts
they ship.
3. The initial color explosion to replace the “S00” will be done on an VP CN, so as not to cancel the
“S00” trim part suffix.
Studio: A product-specific department located or affiliated within the Stellantis Product Design Office.
Texture: A single or multi-level surface characteristic that imparts a unique appearance and/or tactile
quality. Coated surfaces, fabrics, plastic parts, polished aluminum parts, leather and vinyl are all
examples of materials that can receive texture (ref: PRO.00008<A>).
Things Gone Wrong/Things Gone Right (TGW/TGR): A summary report of difficulties encountered and
results achieved during the development program. TGW/TGR reports are prepared and distributed to
promote continuous improvement.

Change Level: M
Trim Code: A two character code that identifies the trim level at which an interior is to be built (found in
EBOM under “ENWM” screen).
Trim Specification Report: An addendum to an Engineering CAD model (or models produced under PS-
7000), that detail the master numbers, master color codes and other information necessary to completely
specify the appearance requirements of vehicle components and assemblies for a specified vehicle
configuration.
V1/Job 1: Continue ramp-up with production of first units for direct sale to the dealer network. All build
options introduced.
Volume Production: Volume product full line speed achieved with maximum complexity achieved.
Previous model phase-out complete. Begin continuous conformance testing.
VP Verification of Process Build: First pilot build program based on product components and systems
that meet design specification produced off tools and equipment allowing build to production process
issues for resolution. Vehicle and property builds that verify product and process design.
Certain important information relative to this standard has been included in separate standards. To
assure the parts submitted meet all of Stellantis requirements, it is mandatory that the requirements in the
following standards be met.
CS-9800 - Application of this standard, the subscription service, and approved sources.
CS-9003 - Regulated substances and recyclability.
4 REQUIREMENTS
Completion of the incremental tasks associated with development of new designated appearance items
must be timed to support the phases of the Vehicle or System Program Plan in GVD.
The general tasks associated with development and production of designated appearance items are
listed in Table 5.
Responsibility for developing new appearance items belongs to the Product Team. At a minimum, the
team consists of representatives from Engineering, Product Design Office, Supplier Quality and the First
tier (end-item) supplier.
Page: 10/13
AS-10119<A>
Change Level: M
The Product Team Engineer is responsible to identify parts as appearance items (Refer to Section 4.4).
Appearance items are components with visible areas where color, gloss or surface texture/finish are
considered to be significant quality characteristics to the final customer and must be controlled from
component development and release through volume production and service applications. Typical
designated appearance items are those parts with EBOM part numbers that contain “TRM” or are 10
digits single-color part numbers (consider only parts visible at final vehicle build). In CoDeP, these are
part numbers belonging to the “colorati” and “incolorati” ranges ( NOTE: The mapping of part numbers in
EBOM/CoDeP must be coherent (ie: TRM corresponds to Incolorate .).
Development of appearance Masters Specimens for suppliers and facilities is the responsibility of the
Interior and Exterior Mastering Studio(s). The distribution of Master specimens is detailed under
Engineering Standard PS-4559<A> “Distribution of Master Specimens for Designated Appearance Items”
for Stellantis and 08094 “Cosmetic/Sensorial Reference Standards Making and Management Procedure”
for Stellantis.
The proper care, handling and storage of distributed Master Specimens, is the responsibility of the quality
assurance activity associated with the recipient organization.
Ensuring that appearance items match the master for color, gloss and surface texture/finish for
Production Part Approval Process, vehicle production and service supply, is the responsibility of the First
tier (end-item) supplier.
The PIP (Part Information Page) identifies all applicable special characteristics and engineering standards
related to the part design. Under “Special Characteristics”, for identifying appearance parts, the
Appearance category needs to be “flagged” using a “Y” for yes. When the user applies Engineering
Standard AS-10119<A> to the PIP, the PIP comment page must include this standard (Refer to Figure 1).
Page: 11/13
AS-10119<A>
