New features
Support for HPE StoreOnce 3620, 3640, 5200, 5250, and 5650 Systems
This release is the first version of software for the next generation of StoreOnce systems.
• Increased capacity: The new StoreOnce 5250 and 5650 now support 8 TB drives, along with the
currently offered 4 TB drives.
• New choices for the flex I/O connectivity: Now provides the option of 10/25 GbE-SFP combo card and
32 Gb Fibre Channel, along with the currently offered 10 GbE-T and 16 Gb Fibre Channel.
• All-inclusive licensing structure: The new generation of StoreOnce products move to an all-inclusive
licensing structure. Now StoreOnce Catalyst and replication are included with the product at no additional
charge (Encryption license at a nominal charge).
• Role-Based Access Control (RBAC): RBAC allows customers to assign different roles/permissions to
users of their StoreOnce system.
• Federated Management: Allows customers to configure and monitor multiple next generation
StoreOnce systems or VSAs in a single pane of glass, using a user-friendly Graphical User Interface
(GUI).
• Commvault support: Addition of Commvault support for catalyst/catalyst copy to enable deeper
integration with StoreOnce.
• Support for RMC direct datapath: Backup data is moved directly from 3PAR to StoreOnce without
going through the RMC VM, reducing complexity and improving performance.
VSA enhancements
• Supports up to 500 TB maximum capacity.
• More flexible capacity licensing scheme with licenses added in 1 TB increments.
• Supports HPE AutoPass License Server to manage licenses for dynamic and large StoreOnce VSA
deployments.
• 90-day evaluation period available.
More enhancements
New REST API guide: The new REST API guide for StoreOnce 4.1.x and later releases includes all the
commands supported on StoreOnce 3620, 3640, 5200, 5250, and 5650 systems. These systems do not
support all the REST commands supported on earlier StoreOnce systems.

Known issues
• During First Time Wizard, the Date/Time cannot be changed backward more than 5 minutes:
If the system clock is ahead more than 5 minutes and you are not configuring NTP, leave the date/time
setting until after the wizard completes. After running the wizard, go to Settings - System Date & Time
and change the value as needed.
• Enabling DHCP for iLO networking with the StoreOnce Management Console makes the system
unreachable for iLO from another subnet:
Enabling DHCP for iLO networking from the StoreOnce Management Console incorrectly sets the default
gateway to 0.0.0.0, making the system unreachable for iLO from another subnet. This issue does not
apply to StoreOnce system networking or iLO configuration through the iLO console.
Because the systems are preconfigured with DHCP, this issue only occurs if the system is configured for
static addressed networking and then is reconfigured to DHCP. If this issue occurs, use the iLO console
to enable DHCP for iLO.
• If a system is added into a federation during an upgrade, the system becomes unreachable:
Do not add a system to or remove a system from a Federation while the remote system is being
upgraded. If the system being added during upgrade shows as "unreachable", remove the system from
the Federation and then add it to the Federation.
• Percentage of data/OS disk in the system resource graph can be incorrect:
When the disk utilization is listed at 100%, this figure can be incorrect.
• The Management Console can be unreasonably slow when logged in as an Active Directory or
LDAP user:
This issue appears during calls that require the system to access all the configured directory servers.
With a slow network connection, only use Local Users and do not configure a Directory Server.
• Replace with: RMC does not support Catalyst Client Access Permissions with StoreOnce S/W
version 4.1.0. Only Public Access is supported.
Client Access Permissions will be supported in the next StoreOnce release.
• If TLS1.0 and 1.1 are disabled on the external key manager, the StoreOnce system fails to enroll:
When enrolling with the external key manager, the StoreOnce system attempts to connect using TLS1.0.
If TLS1.0 or TLS1.1 are disabled on the external key manager, the StoreOnce system will fail to enroll
with the external key manager.
• IPv6 address shows as "failed" even though it's working:
An IPv6 address that responds to ping (at least) but shows as "failed" with a red icon in the Management
Console (for the subnet definition) can result from an attempt to use the subnet that router prefix
advertisements give out, but on an unexpected interface. This is especially likely if multiple interfaces on
the StoreOnce system are connected to routers that are advertising the same prefix, are using the same
Release Notes 5
router, or if the assignment of an address is not on the same interface as the one that is receiving that
subnet by router prefix advertisement.
If this issue occurs, the event log will have an entry for the address:
Description
The address fd15:4ba5:5a2b:1008::62 is not active on VLAN 0.
Resolution
Check that the address is correct. If it is correct, wait for an automated repair cycle to complete.
Resource Name
mgmtAddr86648694-6dc0-4285-a761-229d80dd5efc
Timestamp
9/20/2018 3:43 pm
Event Code
E030B00000B
And the status of the networking configuration will show a red icon for the address underneath its port-
set. Expand the icon to see the message text:
Message Address activation failed with exception message: Address fd15:4ba5:5a2b:1008::62 is
already accessible on the network Resolution.
Check that the addressis correct. If it is correct, wait for automated repair cycle to
complete
Workaround: Do not use the router-advertised prefix for static IP addresses or DHCP addresses in a
networking environment where multiple ports are in that subnet, whether by DHCP or static assignment,
or from automatic assignment.
