PLASCOTHERM 540 HEAT RESISTANT COATING
PRODUCT CODE: HRA 6
Surface Preparation All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dust, dirt, oil, grease or any other contaminants.
Remove oil, grease and dirt and any other contaminants with AQUASOLV DEGREASER (GR 1). Rinse thoroughly with clean
water prior to blasting.
MILD STEEL:
Preferred surface preparation is abrasive blast clean to Sa.2 ½ of the International standard ISO 8501 – 1:2007 to achieve
an angular blast profile of 40 – 60 microns.
In aggressive corrosive atmospheres prime with PLASCOZINC 1 PRIMER (PZI 233).
Self-prime: must achieve a minimum temperature of 300 °C to be sintered into the metal. (Otherwise flash rusting
may occur).
Alternatively prepare steel by wire brushing to St.3 of the International standard ISO 8501 – 1:2007. This is not as
effective and results in shorter maintenance free life. Should not be used on A grade steel (steel exhibiting millscale).
Apply PLASCOTHERM 540 COATING (HRA 6) directly.
Application Apply 2 coats of PLASCOTHERM 540 COATING (HRA 6) to suitably prepared steel at the recommended DFT. Allow 24 hrs
drying between coats.
Caution Surfaces should be painted at ambient temperature and allowed to dry for 24 hours before heat is applied otherwise
blistering and bubbling will occur.
This product only cures fully when heated to 300 °C.
Do not use below or above the minimum or maximum temperature limits.
Safety Precautions Keep out of reach of children.
Ensure good ventilation during application and drying.
In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water or a recognised skin cleaner.
Avoid contact with eyes – In case of contact, rinse eyes immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice if
symptoms persist.
Harmful if swallowed. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.
Refer to Safety Data Sheet for complete information.
