- Variables:
2) Download a PDF copy of the article by Yilmaz, Demirli Caylan, and Karacan (2014)
3) Use the RAS articles (Article 1, Article 2, Article 3, Article 4) to practice completing this
week's assigned portion of the table of evidence (TOE). Download table of evidence (TOE).
4) Do some research.
5) Post in the discussion.

Topic A:

Read one or two of the gum chewing articles. Identify the following components of the research
studies.

Identify research problems, purpose statements, research questions, hypotheses, and the
conceptual or theoretical framework (or absence of). Classify hypotheses as null,
alternative/research, directional, and non-directional.

Identify study variables; classify them as independent, dependent, or extraneous; and identifying
the conceptual and operational definitions for each independent and dependent variable.

Discuss what you have learned from the activity.

Follow the instructions in the RAS Discussion Forum Rubric.

To help with your discussion, view the PPT presentation, read the class articles, practice
identifying the research components using the table of evidence template, and do some of your
own research into the topic, it's time to discuss your learning with the class.
