Assignment Guidelines CSN6224 2410

The assignment requires the design, simulation, and connectivity check of a network using Packet Tracer, incorporating Variable Length Subnet Masking (VLSM) and VLAN with IPv4 addressing based on a specified company structure. Groups of up to four students will be assigned an IPv4 address based on their group number and must validate their designs through simulation, including the implementation of DHCP, DNS, email, and web servers. The submission deadline for the assignment is July 1, 2024, with presentations scheduled from July 2 to July 4, 2024.

ASSIGNMENT
ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES
This assignment aims at the design, simulation, and connectivity check of the network using Packet Tracer. Variable
Length Subnet Masking (VLSM) and Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) must be used for the design of the network using
IPv4 addressing. The design is based on the given company structure as below.

Guidelines/Instructions:
• Each group consists of a maximum of four students.
• Group numbers will be assigned by the lecturer.
• For each group, the IPv4 address will be based on the group number assigned.
150.<group number>.0.0/16
e.g. Group 1 will be assigned an IP of 150.1.0.0/16, Group 2 will be assigned an IP of 150.2.0.0/16 and
etc.
• Each group must perform VLSM design using IPv4 addressing, simulate and validate using Packet Tracer.
• You can use any dynamic routing protocol or a combination of static, default and dynamic routing protocols.
Configuration of router interfaces and routing protocols must be done through command line interface.
• Each group must also implement VLAN to connect each department in the different locations.
• DHCP servers can be introduced whenever needed.
• DNS name should be assigned based on your company domain name and the server should be located at the
HQ.
• Email server using the company domain name is also located at the HQ.
• Finally, a web server using the company domain name should also be located at the HQ.
• Demo/Presentation will contribute 14 marks, Written Report 4 marks and Peer Evaluation 2 marks.
• Last date for submission of soft copy of packet tracer file and written report under MS Teams “T2410
Assignment”: 1st July 2024 (Monday), 11:59pm
• Assignment Presentation will be conducted tentatively from 2nd July 2024 (Tuesday) to 4th July 2024 (Friday)
