Imperialism Notes

Imperialism is defined as a strong nation dominating a weaker one politically, militarily, and economically, with the U.S. focusing on the Western Hemisphere and China. Key figures like Alfred Thayer Mahan advocated for a powerful navy to protect trade routes, while events like the Spanish-American War marked the U.S. emergence as an imperial power. The Platt Amendment established U.S. control over Cuba, and the Roosevelt Corollary reinforced American influence in the Caribbean and Latin America.
