Analyzing a learning case:
1. Understand the components of learning
2. Analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of each learning component
3. Provide solutions to findings of weaknesses in learning cases
4. Argue the strengths and weaknesses of the learning case and strengthen the argument
by referring to the learning case.

Learning Components:
1. Materials
2. Methods
3. Learning steps
4. Assessment
5. Learning media
6. Class management

Learning Methods:
Communicative Approach Language Theory
Communicative Approach Language Theory based on language theory states that in essence
language is a system for expressing meaning, which emphasizes the semantic and
communicative dimensions rather than the grammatical features of language. Therefore, what
needs to be emphasized are:
a. language interaction and communication, not knowledge about language.
b. The learning theory suitable for this approach is the theory of natural second language
acquisition.
c. The aim is to develop students' ability to communicate (communicative competence and
performance).
d. The syllabus should be organized in line with the learning goals and objectives
formulated and the materials selected according to the needs of the students.
e. The type of activity is exchange of information, negotiation of meaning or other
activities that are real.
f. The role of the teacher is facilitator of the communication process, participant in tasks
and tests, needs analyzer, counselor, and manager of the learning process.
g. The role of students is both giver and receiver, so that students not only master the form
of language, but also its form and meaning. The role of supporting materials to improve
language proficiency in real communication acts.

1. Integrative Approach
Integrative approach can be understood as an approach that brings together several
aspects into one process. Integrative is divided into inter-study areas and inter-study
areas. Interfield of study means that several aspects in one field of study are
integrated. For example, listening is integrated with speaking and writing. Writing is
integrated with speaking and reading. Based on the above facts, language learning
should not be presented separately. Indonesian language learning must be integrated
or integrated. We teach vocabulary, it can be integrated into reading, writing, or
speaking. Teaching sentences, we can combine with listening, speaking, reading, or
writing. So it is clear that Indonesian language learning cannot be presented
separately. Indonesian language learning must be taught in an integrated manner.

2. Some approaches to classroom management

A guardian or classroom teacher must be able to make the right choices in
approaching classroom management effectively. To clarify the problem of the
approach to be used, below will be presented several alternatives that can be chosen
including:
a. Approach based on behavior change (behaviorism)
b. Approach based on emotional atmosphere and social relationships (socio-
emotional climate approach)
c. Group process approach
d. The electic approach

Assessment:

Assessment of this contextual-based learning is done by observing learners using language,

both in the classroom and outside the classroom.

Learning progress is also assessed from the process, not solely from the results. Assessment
is not only by the teacher, but also by friends or others.
Authentic assessment is carried out during and after the learning process in a sustainable and
integrated manner. The assessment is also carried out for performance skills.

Learning Media:

1. Increases interest in learning

2. Increase / facilitate understanding

3. Can present data / information accurately

4. Provide real experience

Learning Materials:
Breen and Candlin propose a number of criteria for selecting useful materials.
1. Purpose (instructional, curricular, etc.)
2. Tasks that students do
3. Student interests
4. Development of communication activities
5. How students learn and conceptualize language
6. Freedom of choice
7. What has been and will be learned
8. Way of presentation
9. Other learning resources in the classroom
10. The teaching-learning situation in the classroom
