1. INTRODUCTION

Al Faris is proposing for Lifting and shifting of the tanks and other equipments to the final location.

This method statement represents the procedure to be followed, drawings, engineering, and risk
assessments to ensure the safe and secure Lifting & shifting the above stated tanks and equipments.

of further information/client comments/revisions.

2. PURPOSE

This method statement is concerned with the lifting of tanks by using 70 Ton mobile crane, 30 Ton
mobile crane, 5 Ton forklift, Loading platform and pallet trolley/skate rollers

It is the aim of this method statement to define and describe the cargo handling, equipment’s involved
and safe working procedures.

6.2 Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for each of the positions in the organization chart are:
Main Contractor : AL MAHA STEEL YARD CONT. LLC

Representative : Responsible on behalf of Main Contractor.


Responsible for providing all required documents and technical data to Al Faris.

Al Faris:
Technical Manager : He is the responsible person on behalf of Al Faris in all aspects of the operation
even though he is not involved in day-to-day work of this project. He can be made
to involve in the project if and only if the problem at site cannot be solved by the
personnel’s present at site.

Project Engineer : He will Co-ordinate with the Main Contractor and various contractors.
Responsible for the quality and safety of the works. He is empowered to make
decisions on their behalf. He is responsible for making all necessary variations to
the engineering, developing, preparing and additional studies required to fulfil
the requirement of the project.

Supervisor/Foreman : He is responsible for execution of job at site. His responsibilities include use of
the cranes and other equipment, their mobilization / demobilization,
assembly/erection, preparations, directing riggers and other personnel, co-
operating with Main Contractor personnel, and executing the job as per the
approved method statement. He will be directly reporting & co-ordinating to the
Al Faris project engineer. He will be having the power to bring the minor
variation to the plan in accordance with the given method statement as per site
condition.

Any minor/major changes that demands to deviate from the method


statement/plan due to the site condition, will be informed to the main
contractor/hirer and approval will be obtained prior to the implementation.

7. JOB SEQUENCE

7.1 Offloading tanks and equipment’s from open flatbed trailers and shifting
1. Rig up the main lift crane LTM1070-4.1, 70Ton crane and tailing crane STC-300, 30 Ton mobile
crane at the proposed location.
2. Offload all the tools & accessories.
3. Move the trailer along with the tank to the crane lifting location.
4. Lift the tank from the trailer by 70ton crane & 30ton crane.
5. Tilt the tank to vertical by using 70ton crane & 30ton crane.
6. Lift the agitator and assemble with tank.
Ground floor Tanks and Equipment’s:
7. Lift the tank by crane and offload in front of the room.
8. By using pallet trollies/skate rollers, skid the tank from offloading location to final marking
location.
9. Place jacks and jack up the tank.
10. Remove skate rollers and jack down the tank to the final marking location.
11. Same procedure will be applicable for other tanks and equipment’s in ground floor.
First floor Tanks and Equipment’s:
12. Lift the tank and offload it on the loading platform.
13. Lash the tank with loading platform.
14. Rearrange the lifting gears and lift the loading platform along with tanks.
15. Arrest the loading platform with permanent structures.
16. Skid out the tank from the loading platform by using skate rollers/pallet trollies.
17. Jack down the tank on to the final marking location.
18. Same procedure will be applicable for other tanks and equipment’s in first floor.
19. Demobilize the tools and equipment from site.

7.2 Offloading tanks and equipment’s from container and shifting


1. Rig up the main lift crane LTM1070-4.1, 70Ton crane and tailing crane STC-300, 30 Ton mobile
crane at the proposed location.
2. Offload all the tools & accessories.
3. Move the container to the crane lifting location.
4. Lift the container by suing 70ton crane and offload.
5. By using forklift, pull out the tanks and equipment’s from the container.

9. PRE-REQUISITES AND INITIAL CONDITIONS

a) All COG (centre of gravity) information is to be specified prior to mobilization of any equipment.
b) All the Al Faris equipment’s within this procedure will have the current valid 3rd party certificate at
the time of execution.
c) All personnel will have documented evidence of competence to do the work and operate any
machinery that they are intended for this purpose.
d) Prior to commencement of work, work areas and exclusion zone will be set up and demarcated using
hazard bunting tape.
e) Ground need to be clear, levelled & compacted.
f) Ground should be able to withstand the load imposed during this operation at working location.

10. WORK PROCEDURE

10.1 Prior to operation:

1. Inspection of the site before the job.

2. Discuss about the requirements at site for executing the job.

3. Study of loads and quantity of loads.

4. All temporary attachments on load should be made secure or removed prior to the operation.

5. During the operation, communication between the team will be through walkie talkie.

6. On the day of operation, there will be a toolbox talk that will review the following items:

a) Procedure, requirements, and details specified in the work plans and drawings. Review of safety
items such as weather concerns, plant activity, escape routes, locations of fire-fighting and personal
safety equipment etc.

b) Designate key personnel such as signalman, spotters etc.

c) Complete and sign off all appropriate checklist and safety permits.

d) Obtain permit to work.

e) Check the placement of all banners and barricades that define the safety boundaries of the work
areas.

f) Discuss and give due consideration if any additional appropriate steps that any participant feels if

10.2 Offloading tanks and equipment’s from open flatbed trailer and shifting.

a) LTM1070-4.1, 70ton crane will be used as main lift crane and STC300 30ton crane will be used
as tailing crane for tilting the tanks.

b) Rig up the Main lift crane (70-ton crane) and tailing crane (30ton crane) at the proposed lifting
location.

c) Attach the lifting gears to the both the cranes.

d) Move the trailer along with tanks and equipment’s near to the crane lifting location.

e) Connect 70ton crane lifting gears to top end of the tank and 30ton crane lifting gears to the tail
end of the tank.

f) By using both cranes, lift the tank from the trailer and move the trailer away from the location.

g) Once the trailer is move away from the lifting location, tilt the tank to vertical position by using
70ton crane and 30ton crane.

h) After tilting the tank, disconnect the lifting gears from the tail end of the tank.

i) Place the tank temporarily at the storage location.

j) Lift the agitator by using 30ton crane and assemble it with tank.

Ground floor Tanks and Equipment’s:

k) Place skate rollers/pallet trolley at the offloading location.

l) Lift the tank by using main lifting crane and offload it on the pre-arranged skate rollers/pallet
trolley.

m) Disconnect the lifting gears from the tank.

n) By using skate rollers/pallet trolley, skid the tank from the offloading location to the final marking
location.

o) Once the tank reaches the final marking location, stop the skidding activity.

p) Place jacks and jack up the tank and remove the skate rollers.

q) Jack down tank on the final marking location.

r) Same procedure will be applicable for other tanks and equipment’s in ground floor.

v) Lift the loading platform along with tank and swing towards first floor of the factory.

w) Arrest the loading platform with permanent structures by connecting webbing belts.

x) Once the platform is arrested with building, unlash the tank from the loading platform.

y) By using skate rollers/pallet trolley, skid the tank from the loading platform to the final marking
location.

z) Once the tank reaches the final marking location, stop the skidding activity.

aa) Place jacks and jack up the tank and remove the skate rollers.

bb) Jack down tank on the final marking location.

cc) Same procedure will be applicable for other tanks and equipment’s in first floor.

dd) Keep the are neat and clean.

ee) Demobilize all the tools and equipment from the site.

10.3 Offloading Tanks and Equipment’s from Container and shifting

a) LTM1070-4.1, 70ton crane will be used as main lift crane and STC300 30ton crane will be used as tailing
crane for tilting the tanks.

b) Rig up the Main lift crane (70-ton crane) and tailing crane (30ton crane) at the proposed lifting location.

c) Attach the lifting gears to the both the cranes.

d) Move the container with tanks and equipment’s near to the crane lifting location.

e) Connect 70ton crane lifting gears to the container and offload the container from the trailer.

f) By using forklift, pull out the tanks and equipment’s from container.

g) Connect 70ton crane lifting gears to top end of the tank and 30ton crane lifting gears to the tail end of

11. SAFETY PLAN

The safety and health of our employees is of upmost importance and the prevention of occupational
injuries and illnesses will be given the highest priority. The details incorporated in the health, safety and
environmental policy and environmental management guide are an integral part of Al Faris HSE
management system.

Al Faris desire to provide safe and healthy working environment, shall be accomplished by the
following:

a) To prevent all injuries and reduce accidents at the workplace.

b) To provide a safe and healthy working environment.

c) To establish safe working practices throughout its operations.

d) To provide training for all employees to help them work safely and protect the environment.

e) To comply at all times with all statutory obligations with regards to health, safety and
environmental protection.

f) To maintain, practice & update emergency response procedures.

g) To analyse risks associated with its operations and define effective remedial or contingency plans.

1. Site Safety Education and Training Program.

Safety Orientation for Staff and Workers:

a) Safety induction will be conducted for all workers on their arrival at the jobsite prior to their field
assignment.

b) At site, Al Faris supervisor and client representative will give toolbox talk for 5 to 10 minutes to
discuss the following subject prior to the commencement of daily work.

2. Mind/Awareness program amongst Workers

Accident prevention is of vital concern to everyone in the company. All workers are responsible
for exercising maximum care and good judgment in preventing accidents. By doing so, they are
required to comply with safety regulations stipulated by the site general safety rules and
regulations.

3. Company Safety target achievement program

Al Faris scope of work will be concentrated on the job site. With the other programs on hand, Al
Faris will be focusing on safety target "Zero Accidents". That is the ultimate objective.

4. P.P.E

All workers shall wear approved type of safety helmet, safety footwear, safety goggles and safety
gloves at the work site. Other personal protective equipment, e.g. safety harnesses shall be used
as the work situation requires.

Always wear face mask to avoid the spread of covid virus.

5. Housekeeping

a) All materials, equipment and apparatus should be stored neatly in the designated area.

b) All scraps, waste materials and oily rags should be collected, segregated and accordingly disposed
to designated place on daily basis.

c) General Housekeeping is a matter of continuous attention.

6. Fire Prevention

Smoking will be allowed only in the designated, approved areas. Smoking is prohibited in vehicles
or at work site.

7. Accident reporting and Follow-up

a) Supervisor concerned shall furnish a written report on all accidents, regardless of their severity and
submit it to the Engineer for his action.

b) All accidents shall be investigated immediately by the Supervisor/HSE Officer to clarify the cause
and take corrective measures against recurrence of similar accident.

c) Any incident or accident shall be brought to the notice of client HSE officer immediately to take
