RELAY RACE
In a 4x100m relay race, if an athlete finishes the race without the baton, the officials will make
the decision based on the relay race rules, which are as follows:
1. Baton Exchange Requirement: In a 4x100m relay, each athlete must pass the baton to
the next runner within a specific exchange zone. If the baton is not exchanged within this
zone, the team is disqualified. The baton must be passed properly during the exchange,
and it cannot be dropped.
2. Baton Drop or Failure to Pass: If an athlete finishes the race without the baton, it means
they failed to either hand it off properly to the next runner or that the baton was dropped
or lost before the handoff. In this case, the team would be disqualified from the race. The
rules clearly state that the baton must be carried and handed over to the next runner in the
correct manner, and the race cannot be completed without it.
3. Disqualification: The primary decision from the officials in this scenario is
disqualification. This would happen because the race was not finished according to the
rules. The baton must be exchanged during the race, and if it is missing or not passed, the
team fails to comply with the essential requirements for completing the race.
Process of choosing track and field events for NISV SPORTS DAY
During the process of selecting track and field events for NISV Sports Day, students are
provided with options to choose their preferred events. Each student's name, gender, and
house will be pre-listed on the form. Students are required to review the list of events
available. Tick the events they wish to participate in by marking the corresponding boxes.
After selecting the events, students must sign the form to confirm their choices. They
may select either two track events and one field event, or two field events and one track
event. Additionally, they have the option to participate in open events: 800 meters for
girls and 1500 meters for boys. The relay teams are chosen by the house captains. Prior to
finalizing the selections, students are given practice sessions during MPE (Mass Physical
Education) and regular PHE (Physical and Health Education) classes to prepare for their
chosen events. All field event finals, along with the open events, are conducted before the
final three days of Sports Day. Track event selections are based on time trials, with the
finals taking place during the three-day Sports Day celebration. If a student wishes to
change their selected events, they may do so before the start of the events with the
consent of the sports teacher.
