Drive Fitness Test

SC03R03-RTI01 14
Topic 3 RTIO1 R3

Overview
• The Drive Fitness Test (DFT)
- Provides a quick and reliable method to test IBM SCSI and IDE
hard disk drives
- Performs only read tests and does not overwrite user data
- Reads the S.M.A.R.T. data and displays the data if errors are
detected
• If test runs successfully, then the hard drive should not be
replaced.
• Optional utilities can erase the hard disk data.

Features
• Supports SCSI and IDE drives
• Analyzes drive fitness
- 3 modes of operation:
§ High confidence level quick test unmatched in the drive industry
§ Full media scan
§ Exerciser
- Performs real-time analysis of IBM drives to quickly determine if
the drive has a problem
- Identifies system problems such as cables, temperature, etc.
- Automatically logs significant drive parameters to track potential
impacts to the operation of the drive
• Restores drive fitness (overwrites user data)
- Option to low-level format SCSI drives
- Option to write zeros to all blocks for most IDE drives
