Raw mark grade boundaries

Cambridge Technicals

ocr.org.uk/grade-boundaries
Understanding your grade boundaries
A grade boundary is the minimum mark you need to get a grade. For example, if the grade boundary for a
Merit is 49 marks, you need to get at least 49 to achieve a Merit. A mark of 48 would therefore be a Pass.

Unit grades
The unit grades for Cambridge Technicals are as follows:

Level 3 qualifications Level 2 qualifications

• D – Distinction Unit 1C:
• M – Merit • P – Achieved
• P – Pass • U – Not Achieved
• R – Near-Pass All other units:
• U – Unclassified • D – Distinction
• M – Merit
• P – Pass
• U – Unclassified

Calculating your overall qualification grade

To calculate your overall qualification grade, we convert each unit grade into points, which are added
together to give a total points score. We then compare this total points score to the points grade boundaries
to get your qualification grade.
The points grade boundaries together with instructions and examples of how we do this are provided in the
grading section of each qualification’s centre handbook (section 10). These are available from the
qualification pages of the OCR website.
