Good morning, class!

Good morning, Ma’am!
Let’s first check the attendance.

How are you this morning?

We’re fine, ma’am.
That’s great!
Before we start our new lesson this
morning, let’s have our agreements.
Kindly read the classroom rules in chorus.
CLASSROOM RULES:
•Raise your hand before speaking.
•Listen to the teacher carefully
•Be prepared for class
•Use your inside voice in the classroom.
•Put away all the gadgets
•Always do your best

Yes,ma’am
Since, we have already mentioned our
classroom rules, can I expect everyone to
follow these?

Everybody, everybody eyes on me

Eyes on you
If you here me clap once
Clap twice
Clap trice
If you here me copy me .

Do you get it class?

Yes, that’s right. I am really Yes, ma’am.

expecting that those rules you have
mentioned will be followed, as we
go on with our discussion this
morning. Is that clear?

Okay, very well!

B. MOTIVATION

Before we start our class discussion, let us

have a short game or activity first.
Yes ma’am
This game called “Guess What”. I will
present a scene, and your task is to guess what
might happen next.

Is that all clear?

Let’s start.

Dark clouds and strong winds.

What can you see on the scene? Storm is coming.

It’s because of the clues.

Then what do you think will happen next
when you see dark clouds and strong winds? Dark clouds and strong winds.

Why do say so?

And what are those?

Very Good.

Another One.
A boy using a phone.

What do you observe?

Accident.

A boy keeps on using his phone while

walking in the street full of people.

What do you think will happen?

Because he is focused on using his phone

Probably he will bump into someone or while walking in the street.
something. Right Why?
So you were able to predict the next scene
because of the clues. Actually that has a
connection with our topic this morning (answer may vary)

c. PRESENTATION

Can you guess what our topic is?

Yes ma’am

Class, this morning we are going to tackle

about Making Predictions.

Are you excited for us to further discuss this? OBJECTIVES:

So we will do that. At the end of the lesson students will be able

to:
But before that let us read first our Learning a. Define the term prediction
Objectives, kindly read in chorus. b. Make predictions based on given data
or information

D. DISCUSSION Predictions

Now let us further discuss about our topic

which is Making Predictions. But before we
delve in more on that topic let us first define a
very important word which is?

Very Good

Predictions- a statement about what will

happen or might happen in the future.
The very important for today is, how do we
make it or how do we make predictions.

Making Predictions is a strategy in which

readers use information from a text (include
titles, headings, pictures and diagrams) and
their own personal experiences to anticipate
what they are about to read (or what comes
next).

The strategy making predictions is not only

use in reading it can also be used in viewing
such us viewing movies or documentary.

Making Predictions include Titles, before you

read a story you can already predict what’s on
the story by just looking at the Title. Example
a story titled mom and dad, so you can
already predict that the story is about
parenthood or family.

Pictures, just like in reading story books,

before you can fully read the story inside the
story book you can already predict what’s
inside the story by just looking at the cover or
the pictures given. Example in the cover there
is a picture of a shark, whale then you can
already predict that maybe the story is about
those animals.

Personal Experiences to anticipate what they

are about to read. Example in the game that
we did a while ago about the guessing what is
next in the scenes given. Second scene is
about the boy keep using his phone while
walking so you were able to guess what might
happen next by using or looking on the clues.

Alright, When we make predictions, we

figure out what will happen next by using
information or clues.

I have here a story which is entitled “A glass Yes ma’am

of cold water” we will read that , and let see if
you can predict the ending of the story.
Are you ready?

A GLASS OF COLD WATER

by BEA ADELIENE E. PULGA

Everybody calls me young, beautiful,

wonderful. Am I? Look at my hair, my lips,
my red rosy cheeks and a pair of blinkering
eyes. I remember, somebody says that I look
like my mother that I look like my mother.
But that when she was young.
Now, I am much lovelier than she is. I’m a
mortal Venus. Oops!
What time is it? I must get ready for the
party! Beep-beep…!A-huh! Here they are!
Yes, I’m coming!
"Child, are you still there?"
"Hmp! That’s my mama"
” Child, are you still there? Will you please
get me a glass of cold water?"
"Mama, I’m in a hurry!"
"Please child, try to get me a glass of cold
water.""Mama, please, try to get it on your
own.""Please child, try to get me a glass of
cold water!"At the party, I danced and danced
the whole night.
You see, I can’t leave the party at once. I have
to danced with everybody who proposed to
me. At last, the party is over. I’m very tired.
Very, very tired. So, I went home to tell
mama what happened.
"Mama, I’m home! It’s very quiet. "Mama,
I’m home!" Nobody answers.

Where is she? I look for her in the sala, but

she’s not there. Where is she? A
-huh! In the kitchen!
(answer may vary)

Let’s stop there and what do you think what’s

happen next?
Okay, let’s read the ending and see if your
answer is correct.

( story continued…)
I saw my mama, lying down on the floor,
dead. With a glass on her hand. I remember,
she tried to get it
Oh, God, just for the glass of cold water!
Mama! Mama! Oh, Mama!

So the ending was the mom dies while getting

the cold glass of water. None ma’am.

I can see that you already understand our

topic this morning. Do you have any
questions regarding this?

Now let’s proceed to our activity.

E. APPLICATION

3 groups.
