 On each slide, use sticky notes to write what you think the instrument is.
 No worries if you're not sure — just guess!

[Show each instrument for 30 seconds. Prompt with clues if needed.]

[Slide: “Instrument Families” with icons for string, woodwind, brass, percussion]

"There are four main families of musical instruments:

🎻 String
🎷 Woodwind
🎺 Brass

"Each group creates sound in a different way. Let’s watch a short video that shows how these
instruments work."

[Play video via YouTube or Edpuzzle with pause points]

📝 As you watch, answer the interactive questions on Edpuzzle:

 What happens when you pluck a string?

 How do woodwinds use air?
 What’s the difference between brass and woodwind?

[Pause video after each section for discussion or quiz response check]

🧠 [20:00–30:00] Guided Practice: Music or Noise?

Tools: Google Slides + Padlet

[Slide: “What’s Music? What’s Noise?”]

"Let’s think about sound. Not all sounds are music. Some are... just noise! 😅"

"I want you to help me sort some examples."

Use Padlet or Slide-based activity:

 Column 1: 🎵 Beautiful Music

 Column 2: 😬 Annoying Noise
 Column 3: 🔊 Too Loud
 Column 4: 🎧 Calming Sound

"Here are your sounds:

1. A dog barking non-stop

2. A soft piano song
3. Loud construction
4. Rain falling on a window
5. Rock concert 🎸"

Instructions:

 Drag or list each sound into a column.

 Then answer this in the Padlet comments:
“Can noise ever be musical?”
“What kind of music do you enjoy?”

[Teacher responds to 1–2 Padlet posts]

"Love it! Some of you said construction noise could be musical — interesting thought!"

🗣️[30:00–40:00] Independent Practice: Flipgrid Mini-Speech

Tool: Flip (Flipgrid)

[Slide: “Let’s Speak!” – Flipgrid Prompt]

"Now it’s your turn to speak! 🎙 I want you to choose one instrument and tell me:

1. What is the instrument?

2. How does it make sound?
3. Why do you like or dislike it?"

Instructions:

 Go to Flip
 Record a short video (30–60 seconds)
 Try to speak clearly — this is great fluency practice
 Bonus: Watch a classmate’s video and leave an emoji reaction 👍 🎵 😊

Teacher Example (on-screen or voiceover):

"Hi! I’m [Name], and my favorite instrument is the flute. It’s a woodwind instrument. You
blow air through a hole, and the air vibrates to make sound. I like it because the sound is soft
and beautiful."
