OUTCOMES: Demonstrating an understanding of appropriate selection, sequencing


and pacing of the skills involved in teaching Listening and Speaking in the Senior or
FET Phase English classroom.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: The assignment should be typed using an Arial font


size 12. The assignment should be typed in 1.5 line spacing and use justified
margins. Assignments which are submitted without a cover page and a signed
declaration indicating that the work has not been plagiarised will not be accepted.
Your assignment should be submitted as a WORD document and named with
[Surname], [First Name] [student number] as in this example: Fasie, Brenda

TASK: Select a text for a listening lesson in a grade of your choice. Complete
the following tasks:

1 Provide the audio text suitable for the listening activity. You may submit
a link to the audio file. (5)
2 Explain how you will prepare learners for the listening task: explain what
steps learners will follow to complete the task. You must explain what
you (the teacher) will do to ensure that learners follow the process
approach to listening.
Do not write a lesson plan. Write an explanation in paragraphs. Your
explanation should be 2 to 4 pages. (30)
