practicing new skills #2 Dances.

First, we define what is dance.

So, Dance is the movement of (the students are listening to

the body in a rhythmic way, the teacher intently)
usually to music and within a
given space, for the purpose
of expressing an idea or
emotions, releasing energy, or
simply taking delight in the
movement itself.

Next, traditional dance. What (the male student answer) also

is traditional dance? about dance ma’am.

Very good. Traditional dance

often called folk dance, it
refers to culturally rooted
movements and routines
passed down through
generations, reflecting a
community’s customs, history,
and environment, serving as
entertainment, storytelling, or
ceremonial practice.

Examples of traditional dance;

 Tinikling- is the dance

representation of the
Filipino farmers trying to
prevent the tikling birds
steal rice grains from
the fields. It consists of
two people at both ends
of a bamboo pole,
tapping and sliding it
together.
 Carinosa- is a
traditional Filipino
dance that originated in
the 17th century. It is a
charming courtship
dance that showcases
the country’s rich
cultural heritage.
 Itik-itik is a mimec
dance, meaning its
moves are pulled from
mimicking something
else. In the Itik-Itik’s
case, it’s ducks.
 Sinulog is a ritual dance
that’s performed in
honor of Santo Nino.
It’s now a part of the
annual Sinulog Festival,
and dancers wear
brightly colored,
traditional costumes
when performing.
Unlike some of the
other Filipino folk
dances, this one
requires drums.
 Kuratsa is a popular
tranditional Filipino folk
dance, particularly in
the Visayan region, that
depicts the courtship
between a rooster and
a hen, often performed
at a weddings and
festivals.

This are some of our Filipino

folk dances here in the
Philippines, class.

While, Creative dances is a

contemporary dance form that
combines movement and
artistic expression, focusing on
developing motor skills and
emotional expression rather
that specific techniques or (the students yell) yehey!
aesthetic.

Examples og creative dance:

 Hip-hop
 Ballet
 Modern/contemporary
dance
 Folk dance
 jazz
