I. OBJECTIVES
1. Describe the different theories on the origin of the universe.
2. Explain the Big Bang Theory.
3. Appreciate the importance of scientific inquiry in understanding the universe.

Topic: The Origin of the Universe

Materials:

 PowerPoint presentation
 Short video clip on the Big Bang Theory
 Worksheets or activity sheet

III. PROCEDURE
A. Review (5 mins)

- Ask: "What do you know about the universe?"

- Quick brainstorming activity on what students think existed before Earth.

B. Motivation (5 mins)
- Show a short video clip or animation of the Big Bang.

- Ask: "What do you think happened before the Big Bang?"

C. Lesson Proper (25 mins)

1. Discussion of Theories

 Big Bang Theory (focus on this)

2. Big Bang Theory

 Sequence of events
 Evidence: Cosmic background radiation, redshift
 Importance to understanding the universe

3. Class Discussion

- Ask students: Why do you think scientists believe the Big Bang theory is the most accepted
one?

D. Activity (15 mins)

- Group Task: Each group will create a visual timeline or drawing representing the sequence
of the Big Bang theory.

- Present it briefly in front of the class.

E. Assessment (5 mins)

- 1 reflection question: "What amazed you most about the universe’s beginning?"
