Character,Settings, Point of View, Plot,
and Theme

ready for our next topic which is part of an

- Do you have any idea about essay?
- Ma’am essay is a piece of writing that
has introduction, body, and conclusion
that writer needs to achieve.

- Very good, Thank you for sharing your

opinion.

- So, essay is a piece of writing that

usually has three or more paragraphs. An
essay is written about one topic that has
several main points.
-Ma’am, introduction, body, and
- Essay has three parts and what are
conclusion.
those?

- Yes, correct. Thank you.

- So, first we have introduction.
Introduction is the first paragraph in the
essay and it contains two parts, and those
are general statement, and thesis
statement.
- General statement is few sentences
- Can anyone read the definition of the about your subject that can catch the
general statement? attention of your reader.

- Thank you, in simple explanation, in

general statement it introduces the topic of
the essay and gives context so that it is
catchy to the reader’s eyes.
- Second is the thesis statement, Ms. Cajes - Thesis statement is a statement that
please kindly read the definition. tells your reader the main points of your
topic and states the over-all plan of your
essay.

- Thank you, Ms. Cajes, so thesis statement

means it makes clear the line of argument
and it shows all in all plan of the writer. Are
we clear class? - Yes, Ma’am.
- For example of introduction:
Going to a new school can be exciting, but
for some reason I find it very difficult. When
I first arrived here in the city, I was
confused and don’t know how would I
survive here. Fortunately, I met a very
special friend who made me feel that
everything is going to be okay. So class, - Ma’am, I noticed that on the first
what do you notice? paragraph she describes the feeling of
being a students and on the second she
tells us that she met a friend that can
help her through out.
-Are we clear class? Do you get it? - Yes, Ma’am.

- Body consists of one or more

paragraphs following the introduction.
- Now, let’s proceed to the second parts of
an essay which is the body, Mr. Flores kindly
read the definition.

- Meaning, the body is the main part of the

essay. A body is consisting of one or more
paragraph and each paragraph supports the
idea of the topic by selecting evidence to
prove your claim.
For example:
One of the person I met is Jhona. I first met
her in our first day of school.

She was sitting next to me and suddenly

she started talking to me, we became
friends the next day and we’re always
together.If I hadn’t met Jhona, my life
would be so boring and sad.
So as you notice, she said that she met
Jhona which is the topic sentence, then she
describe how they met as a supporting
details in her essay and lastly she made a
concluding topic saying that if he hadn’t met
Jhona her life would be boring. Understand?
- Yes, Ma’am.

- Lastly we have the conclusion. Mr.

Villanueva please read this. - Conclusion is the last paragraph of the
essay that completes it by summarizing
the important ideas.

- Okay, thank you. So just like in the movie

it has ending, so the essay also have an
ending part which summarize the topic of
the essay. In this part it can be your
opinion, prediction or a solution to the
problem.
For example:
The significance of the kindness Jhona
showed to me and the impact it made on
my life, I will never forget her and I will
treasure every moment that we have.
So in this last part of the essay do you
notice that she summarizes the happenings
of her life with Jhona? And that she also
include a resolution that she will never
forget Jhona.
