Reading is crucial since it sharpens our mind and
provides us with a rich amount of information and life lessons.
It improves our comprehension of the environment. It keeps
our brain engaged and fosters creativity. Reading helps us
expand our vocabulary and hone our communication abilities.
It requires readers to process the text and comprehend
the text. It is the ability of the reader to develop control over
surface level text processing so that reader can focus on
understanding the deeper levels of meaning embedded in the
text. Oral reading fluency is one of the characteristic features
A. Rationale
of best readers develop in school through different activities
and school education is incomplete if it’s confined to the
classroom without taking consideration to various activities
which help a child to grow. The attainment of this unconfined
education is reading through innovative approaches.
That is why the Supreme Elementary Learner
Government SELG organization will add additional inputs to
the reading experiences of their co-learners in Sogod
Elementary School during their vacant time through their
project “Kaeskwela Ko, Tutor Ko Program”.
The following are the objectives of this project:
a. Improve the reading performance of learners from
Grades 1 to 6 through SELG tutoring in vacant time

B. Objectives “Kaeskwela Ko, Tutor Ko Program” in teaching reading.


b. Reduce the number of non-readers and slow readers.
c. Develop reading habits and skills at home of remedial
and developing readers.

C. Expected The struggling readers of Sogod Elementary School


from Grades 1 to Grade 6 will be the direct beneficiaries of
this program. With paired reading strategy which will be used
