2. Description of Module
This module is designed to provide an opportunity for students to developcounseling skills through supervised
individual and group counseling, faculty/peer consultation and other related experiences. Content and goals include:
establish basic counseling skills, case conceptualization, treatment planning, report writing, increased understanding
of modalities, and case supervision/liaison with placement in various school and non-school setting. Students are
required to work a minimum of 250 hours (Direct and Indirect hrs) as an intern in an educational or non-
educational organization. There is a need also for students/Interns to integrate the responsibilities of being a
practitioner, a worker, and a learner(Refer page 5 of General Guideline for Practicum in Psychology, SOP-2016)

3. Progress Checklist

1 First read the Internship/Practicum guidelines in counseling psychology (it is
attached/distributed), and contact with your assigned faculty supervisor (to be)
2 Pick the request letter to internships sites (if you want) from the School’s secretary
office and select your potential host site(s) and On-site supervisor
3 Get familiar with Agency before starting the internship (Agency rules);
Professionalism and awareness on code of conduct of the practicum/internship site
4 Get all signsforPracticum/Internship Agreement/Contract form (Agency/Onsite
supervisor, student counselor, and faculty supervisor)
5 Work Schedule form (Internship goals/responsibilities)
6 Documentation and Files
 Informed Consent Form
 Client In-take Interview/Summary
 Session Record Format / Summary of each session work
 Mental Status Exam sheet
 Treatment Plan Form
 Termination Form

7 Attend faculty group supervision (Mandatory), one hr session on Thursday or Friday
afternoon (Every other week or as scheduled)
8 Clinical case presentation(Outline will be distributed)/ Progress report(you may
adapt from Outline for final report, below no.11)/ Seminar (Depending on your
input/creativity/special professional work, it is highly encouraged)
9 Contactyour onsite supervisor as per agreed schedule
10 Practicum program activity and Time Logbook(Form 1). Keep a log of the time
spent in the internship sites (dates, hours) and the duties performed; get signed by
onsite supervisor/s

 Direct hours (80/90 hrs): This refers to time spent in face-to-face contact
with clients in intervention and assessment (e.g., individual therapy,
group therapy, couple/family therapy, psychological testing, structured
diagnostic interviewing, risk assessments, etc)
 Indirect/supportive hours (160/170hrs): This refers to time spent on
clinical activities that do not involve direct contact with the client (e.g.,
writing session notes, file review, treatment planning, organizing a client
file, writing reports, analyzing data from formal assessments, doing client
or group preparation, writing supervision consultation summaries,
preparing a supervision agenda, etc.)

This can also include:


o Supervision Received ( time spent in direct contact with your
faculty and on-site supervisor (e.g., individual or group
supervision)
o Client support activities: (e.g., observing assessments, observing
treatment sessions, conducting co-therapy, case presentations,
writing a referral, watching training videos, clinical role plays,
learning about ethics, opportunities to attend rounds, presentations,
team meetings/consultations, professional/clinical readings,
didactic Training / seminarsetc.)
o Outcome Assessment of Programs or Projects: Any research on
clinical services at your practicum site (e.g., research on client
satisfaction with counseling services)
o Systems Intervention/Consultation: Provision of specialized
consultation or training to members of an agency or institution.
11 Final report of the experience at the end of the semester (First week of January
- 2022) (Follow APA style of reporting, 12- 15 pages).
Outline for final report:
 Summarize the experience: Develop an Executive Summary that is one
page in length that highlights the key elements of what was gained through
the internship experience.
 Describe the organization: Discuss mission, purpose, structure, functions,
programs etc.. Include an organizational chart
 Describe how counseling and related professional services are conducted.
(Identify strengths and any gap you might see during professional practices)
 Describe the experience and assess the learning that occurred:
o Outline your major success during the internship experience as
they relate to your goals
o Outline your major challenges and how you overcome them
o Explain your on-site supervisor feedback about your strengths and
growth areas (if any,) and your plan for addressing those feedback
o Explain your strengths and areas of improvement (self assessment)
 Assess the experience:
o Briefly assess the overall internship experiences and quality of
work
o Explain how the internship experience will further your
professional/career goals. Briefly discuss your future professional
and/or academic plans.

12 On- site supervisor’s Evaluation of Student Practicum Performance (Form 2)


13 Make sure you amend the dates accordingly when you adapt different forms from
practicum guideline manual.

3 Attendance: A 'no-show' to one or more group supervision sessions will result in an incomplete, reduction 10 pts
of or failing final grade, depending on circumstances
