2. Description of Module
This module is designed to provide an opportunity for students to developcounseling skills through supervised
individual and group counseling, faculty/peer consultation and other related experiences. Content and goals include:
establish basic counseling skills, case conceptualization, treatment planning, report writing, increased understanding
of modalities, and case supervision/liaison with placement in various school and non-school setting. Students are
required to work a minimum of 250 hours (Direct and Indirect hrs) as an intern in an educational or non-
educational organization. There is a need also for students/Interns to integrate the responsibilities of being a
practitioner, a worker, and a learner(Refer page 5 of General Guideline for Practicum in Psychology, SOP-2016)
3. Progress Checklist

Direct hours (80/90 hrs): This refers to time spent in face-to-face contact
with clients in intervention and assessment (e.g., individual therapy,
group therapy, couple/family therapy, psychological testing, structured
diagnostic interviewing, risk assessments, etc)
Indirect/supportive hours (160/170hrs): This refers to time spent on
clinical activities that do not involve direct contact with the client (e.g.,
writing session notes, file review, treatment planning, organizing a client
file, writing reports, analyzing data from formal assessments, doing client
or group preparation, writing supervision consultation summaries,
preparing a supervision agenda, etc.)
