WORLD ISSUES 6th Grade ADDITIONAL PROJECT

Make a booklet about a “Global City”. You should hand in the project on March 21, 2025. If
you hand in your project late, you will get -15 points off the project.

Global Cities

1. Choose one of the Global Cities from the graph on page 65


in your Reading Explorer book. You will do research about
the city in the six areas that are used in the Global Cities
Index.

2. Create a six-page booklet about the city:

∙ Page 1 – Coverpage: Write the city's name and country, your name and your class. Decorate the
cover page with pictures and color to make it interesting.

∙ Page 2 – Business and Politics: Write one paragraph about the business and politics in the
city. Answer the following questions for each:
o Business – What global companies are in the city?
o Politics – Are there any embassies and international organizations in the city?

∙ Page 3- People: Write two paragraphs about the people in the city. What is the city’s
population? Does the city attract talented people from around the World? Are the city’s
universities good? Are there any famous people from that city? Why are they famous?

∙ Page 4 – Media and Entertainment: Write one paragraph about the media and one paragraph
about the entertainment of the city. Answer the following questions for each:

o Media – What news sources does the city have? Are there TV channels, radio stations or the
Internet, newspapers, news agencies, online platforms? What are the most popular news
sources?
o Entertainment – Does the city have many entertainment options: museums, sports,
music or different types of restaurants? What are some of the most popular entertainment
options?

∙ Page 5 – Reflection: Write a paragraph about your opinion of the city. What do you think
about this city? What are the best and worst things about the city? Would you want to live in
this city? Why or why not?

∙ Page 6 – Works Cited: Include citations of your sources (where did you get your information?
Website? Magazines? Books?).

**Each page should have at least two pictures.**


Each paragraph should be at least five sentences.**
You may use the internet to do your research but do not copy/paste. Write using your own words.
