Teacher's Activity Student's Activity

I. Preparation

Good morning class!

Before we begin, please fix all of your chairs and

pick up the pieces of paper or trash that you see
and throw them in the trash bin. *All students obediently complied*

1. Prayer

Student 1, kindly lead the prayer before we

proceed to our lesson for today. *Student 1 leads the prayer as other students join
in.*

How are you children? Isn’t this a beautiful

morning? Students: Yes teacher!

2. Checking of Attendance

Alright! Now please check your seatmate if they

are absent. Kindly raise your hands if the seat next
to you is vacant. Okay, so who is absent?

*No one raised their hands*

None, excellent!

3. Collecting of assignments

Now kindly pass your assignments forward. *Students passed all their notebooks forward*
Hopefully, you all accomplished your homework.

Done? Thank you all.

II. Motivation
Okay class, before we begin our discussion, we will
be observing the children in the following
illustrations.

Help me find what they need. Raise your hand and

as I call your name, step forward if you know what
the child in the picture needs and get the answer
from the box

*Hungry Child*

Student 2… *Student 2 raises his hand*

*Sweating, thirsty person*

Student 3.. *Student 3 raises her hand*

*Homeless child in the cold*

Student 4… *Student 4 raises her hand*

You are all correct! The hungry child needed

healthy food, the other person needed a glass of
water and air, and lastly the child needed a home
and some new clothes to wear.

Well done! Thank you for helping teacher find

what they needed.

III. Presentation

The pictures I have showed you are examples of

our basic needs as humans, but that is not our
lesson for today.

Our subject for today will be about Caring For

Plants.

Now class, how could we take care of plants? Do

you have any ideas? Student 5

Student 5: We should give plants some water,

teacher!
Very good

Water - water keeps plants alive. It helps the

plants make their own food and keep their shape.

Anything else? Student 6 ?

Sunlight- plants need enough sunlight to make

their own foods, how scene too much sunlight can Student 6: We should give them Sunlight,
cause plants to wilt. teacher!

Wilt means “become weak and dry up”

Anything else? Yes student 7?

Yes! Air- plants need air to make their own food. In

addition, some plants need cold air. For example, Student 7: Air, teacher!
strawberry plants grow in bagyio city, where the
weather is cold.

I would like to add more for your learning, plants

also need..

Nutrients- nutrients help plants grow healthier.

They come from the soil where the plants are
grown. They make also come from fertilizers.
These can be made from chicken manure or
manure or from fruit or vegetable peelings.

Their own space- weeds are plants that grow fast.

They take up the space and nutrients that your
other plants need. Pull out weeds that grow
around your plants. Some plants could be placed
under a green house.
*Children in Awe and listening*

Caring for plants is very similar to taking care of

ourselves.
Can you give me examples of the things that you
do to care for yourself? Student 8…

Student8: Drinking 8 glasses of water, teacher!

Verygood, did you notice that even plants need
that? Another.. Student 9..

Wow! Excellent! Student 9: We need a house, teacher. Just like

how plants need a green house.

IV. Generalization

Now let us all recite what plants need..

*Students Together*

“PLANTS NEED

WATER

SUNLIGHT

AIR

NUTRIENTS

SPACE
Perfect!

Plants are like humans, we need to be taking care

of ourselves to live and to grow healthy. You can
help by making sure they get enough water,
sunlight, air, nutrients and space. If plants do not
receive these things, they will wilt and die.

V. Evaluation
Give what my plant pot needs, in this activity. Raise your hand and get what my plant pot needs to grow
my mystery plant…

V. Assignment

September 1, 2023

With the help of an adult, cut a photo of a plant that reminds you of yourself and write down what your
plant needs.
