Call to Order

The meeting was called to order by Omar Pandaan, President and


Chairperson, at 11:00 AM.

Attendance

Approval of Previous Minutes

The minutes from the meeting held on January 29, 2025, were reviewed and
approved without amendments.

Agenda Items

Values and Cuisine in Global Hospitality

Discussion centered on the importance of understanding cultural values in


hospitality, focusing on countries like France, Japan, and the UAE. Traditional
dishes such as French foie gras, Japanese kaiseki, and UAE’s majboos were
highlighted for their role in guest experiences.

 Decision: Include these countries as case studies in the seminar.


 Action Item: Joshua Lariosa to gather additional research on these
cuisines and their cultural significance by February 12, 2025.

Hospitality Industry Culture

Reviewed hospitality norms in Spain (e.g., siesta culture) and Mexico (e.g.,
mezcal tastings). Emphasized how these cultural practices can enhance
guest engagement in resorts and hotels.

 Decision: Add segments on Spanish and Mexican hospitality practices


to the seminar agenda.

 Action Item: Kendrick Estrada to prepare a presentation on Spanish


hospitality customs by February 12, 2025.

Cultural Do’s and Don’ts

Compiled etiquette guidelines for guests traveling to different countries:

 France: Greet with “Bonjour”; avoid asking for substitutions or


splitting bills.

 Japan: Use both hands when receiving items; avoid pouring your own
drink or public displays of emotion.

 UAE: Dress modestly; avoid public displays of affection or consuming


alcohol outside licensed venues.

 Decision: Distribute a cultural etiquette guide to staff during training


sessions.

 Action Item: Nashzalee Matienzo to create a visual guide for staff


training by February 12, 2025.

Announcements

A guest speaker specializing in Mediterranean hospitality has been confirmed


for next month’s seminar scheduled for March 5, 2025.
