GALGOTIAS COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

1, Knowledge Park-II, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering

Session: 2024-25 (Even) Semester: VI

Subject Name: Antenna & Wave Propagation Subject Code: BEC-603

Assignment No.-3 (CO3)

Submission Date: ________________

1. Discuss solid angle and beam area.

2. List the various parameter of principal radiation pattern.
3. Describe the beam area of antenna and give the formula.
4. Derive antenna temperature and its relation with the signal to noise ratio (SNR).
5. An antenna has a field pattern given by E(θ) = cos2θ for 0˚ < θ < 90˚. Evaluate:
(i) HPBW
(ii) FNBW
(iii) Beam area
(iv) Draw the pattern showing HPBW and FNBW.
6. Design a radio communication link for directional antennas. Evaluate the power delivered to
the receiver if a radio link has a 15 W transmitter connected to an antenna of 1.5 m 2 at 3
GHz. The receiving antenna has an effective aperture of 0.5 m2 and is located at a 15 km
line of sight distance from the transmitting antenna. Assuming lossless, matched antennas.
7. Illustrate effective aperture and effective height of an antenna.
8. Explain fields from oscillating dipoles. Describe directivity of an antenna and find the
relationship between directivity and gain of antenna.
