1.Explain the procedure to pass IBSS at ON.

1. If IBSS is at ON, LP shall stop his Train in rear of the Signal.

2. IF SPT IS PROVIDED:
a) LP shall contact SM of the Station in Rear over SPT.
b) If the IBSS is at ON due to occupation of preceding Train in the Block Section :
 SM shall inform the same and clear the IBSS after obtaining line clear.
c) If IBSS is at ON due to failure:
 SM shall obtain Line Clear from Station in advance.
 He shall then authorize LP to pass IBSS at ON by giving a Message + PN
through SPT and LP can pass the signal with normal speed.
3. IF SPT IS NOT PROVIDED or LP could not communicate the SM
through SPT:
a) LP shall wait for FIVE minutes.
b) He shall then proceed at a Cautious Speed & be prepared to
stop short of any obstruction.
c) The Speed shall not exceed
 15 Kmph, if the view ahead is clear.
 8 Kmph, if the view ahead is not clear.
4. The Speed Restriction shall be exercised till the Train reaches the FSS of
the Station in advance, even if the FSS and Intermediate GSS are in OFF.
5. If LP sees a preceding Train / obstruction in the Block Section in
advance, he shall maintain a safe Distance of 75m or one OHE span
between his Train and preceding Train/obstruction. In emergency it
may be reduced.
6. LP shall report the same to SM of the Station in advance.
7. On becoming aware that the IBSS is defective (due to failure of Block
Instrument or Track Circuit or Axle Counter or failure of Signal itself),
SM shall
a) Treat the entire Section (X-Y and Y-Z) as one Block Section.
b) Obtain Line Clear through Block Telephone or other approved Means.
c) Issue Paper Line Clear Ticket as ATP for entire Section (X-Z) with
T/369(3b) for passing the IBSS at ON. LP shall pass the IBSS at ON
at Normal Speed without stopping the Train.

2 Explain working of trains during S/L working on D/L in Absolute Block System

1. On a Double line Section, Whenever one line is obstructed due to an accident / obstruction ,
temporary single line working on Double line may be introduced.

2. It shall be introduced between the two nearest Stations provided with cross over points .

3. If Any class ‘C’ Station available between the above two Stations, It shall treated as closed.
4. Authorities issued:
T/D 602 is issued as Authority to proceed.
Right direction
 For despatch-T/D 602.
 LSS shall not be cleared.
 If there is a IBSS T/369(3b) shall also to be issued.
 For reception- by taking ‘OFF’ Home signal.
Wrong direction
 For despatch-T/D 602 +T/511+ Piloting
 For reception- LP shall stop his train at the LSS of the same line or FSS of the
adjacent line whichever comes first.
written memo [as per SR.5.10 (i)] + caution order 15 KMPH + Piloting
5. Role of LP:
 Speed of first Train shall not exceed 25 KMPH.
 LP of the first train shall inform gateman and gang man enroute.
 LP of all wrong direction trains shall switch on flasher light.
 LP of all trains shall give frequent short whistles.

3. Explain working of trains during S/L working on D/L in Automatic Block System

On a Double line section, If one line is obstructed due to Accident, failure or any other reason,
single line working on double line may be introduced .
Wrong direction trains:
Despatch:
 Each 1st train : PLCT + T/A 912 + T/511 + Caution order for 25 kmph
 Subsequent trains : PLCT + T/A 912 + T/511 + Caution order with information only.
Reception:
 Written memo as per SR 5.10 + Caution order + Piloting
Right direction trains:
Despatch:
 Each 1st Train : PLCT + Caution order for 25 kmph
 Subsequent trains : Automatic indication + Caution order with information only.
Reception:
 By taking off signals.
Role of LP:
 LP of first train shall inform Gangmen and Gateman enroute about the
introduction of single line working on double line.
 LP of all wrong direction trains shall switch on their Flasher light.
 LP of all trains shall give frequent short whistles.

 Speed of each first train in both right and wrong direction shall not exceed 25
kmph.

4. Explain the procedures prescribed for passing defective HOME signal

Trains shall be received by using anyone of the following methods:
 Calling-on Signal.
 Message + PN through SPT. ( Not to be used for first train)
 T/369(3b) .
 T/369(1) .
CALLING-ON SIGNAL:
 Train shall be stopped at the FSS .
 After actuating the calling on track circuit and waiting for 60 sec, Calling on
signalshall show OFF aspect.
 LP shall Stop, draw ahead with caution and be prepared to stop
short ofobstruction.
 OFF aspect of calling on signal authorizes the LP to pass that signal only.
MESSAGE THROUGH SPT:
 Train shall be stopped at the FSS.
 SM shall issue a Message+PN through SPT to LP.
 It contains Message No,Train No, Signal No &Description, Road No,Speed & PN.
 LP shall record the Message in his Rough Journal Book .
 More than one reception signal can be mentioned in single message.
 Speed shall not exceed 15KMPH.
FORM T/369(3b):
 Train shall be stopped at the FSS.
 SM shall prepare Form T/369(3b) in Duplicate.
 It shall be delivered to LP through a Competent Railway Servant at the foot
of thedefective Signal.
 More than one reception signal can be mentioned in a single form.
 Speed shall not exceed 15 KMPH.
T/369(1):
 SM shall advise the Nominated Station in rear.
 It shall be Last Stopping Station as in WTT - for Mail/Express Trains or Station
in rear - for other Trains.
 SM at Nominated Station in rear shall issue Advance Authority T/369(1)
 Proceed Hand Signal (PHS) shall be shown at the foot of the defective Signal.
 If PHS is not shown, LP shall stop his Train.
