Alos, B Reflection 2

The document is a reflection on a training event focused on Landslide Susceptibility Analysis using GIS and Logistic Regression held at Benguet State University. The author learned about GIS applications in hazard mitigation and faced challenges due to missing the first day of training. Despite difficulties, the author successfully completed tasks with guidance and recognized the need for better preparation and research prior to the event.

Event:

Training on “Landslide Susceptibility Analysis using the Logistic Regression Method

in RStudio and Geographic Information (GIS) on February 5-6, 2025 at the
Everlasting Hall, Research and Extension Building, Benguet State University

What did I learn?

I learned more about Geographic Information System (GIS) and we were

shown of its applications not only in providing detailed map but especially on
hazard mitigations. In this case, for areas that are susceptible to landslide in La
Trinidad.

I also learned more about how to layout maps and we started with the map of
La Trinidad, Benguet. We used the map to layout areas susceptible to landslide using
eight factors. These factors include soil type, rainfall, elevation, slope, and geology.

What went well?

As a beginner in learning GIS, this training allowed me to have a brief

experience with operating GIS. I was also able to follow the instructions of the
trainers and understand the process of the activities. During the workshop, I had a
difficulty with one task but upon requesting guidance from the trainers, I
understood how to complete the task and I was able to finish it before the training
ended.

What could I have done better?

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend the first day due to my class so I was a
bit behind. I should have done more research about the topic so that I could follow

the flow of the activity faster. My lack of preparation also caused delay with
copying the training materials because there was a problem with my laptop that I
didn’t check before the day of the training.
