Most Essential Learning Competency:
Write a short paragraph providing another ending for a story listened
to
There was once a man who had a lot of pets. He had dogs, cats,
birds, bunnies, mice, iguanas, a monkey, and even a snake. His house
was like a pet shop. His house was open to all people who wanted to
see different kinds of animals.
One day, there was a very rich woman who wanted to buy the
man’s African lovebirds. It was a very rare kind. It had all the
colors of the rainbow.
However, the man said, “No, I don’t sell any of my pets. If you want,
you can just come and visit every day.”
The woman offered the man three million pesos for a single bird.
Still, he just repeated what he had said. The woman left the man’s
house in dismay.
The woman was very jealous of what the man had. She hired someone
to burn his house down.
One day, while the man was out to buy food, the strangers hired by
the woman did as they had planned. They poured gasoline all over the
house and burned it.
When the man returned, he was saddened by what he saw. He was
greeted by two of his dogs, five of his cats, and his monkey. He
thought the rest of his pets died in the fire.
When the fire was totally put out, the pet master went inside his
burned house to look for the remains of his pets, but nothing was
there. There were no bones or any parts of his pets. He was very
disappointed and he didn’t know what to do.
The next day, he made a small hut for himself and his cats, dogs,
and monkey to spend the night in. When morning came, he was
awakened by the chirping of the birds, and he felt something heavy
in his chest. There lay his bunnies and mice. The snake was
underneath his bed.
When he went out of the hut, he saw all of his birds. He also saw
people from the media taking pictures and videos of the whole
situation.
He was very happy that none of his pets died. He knew that
nobody could’ve rescued the animals, but the animals
themselves.
When he was asked by one of the news reporters about the return of
the animals, he said, “We treated each other as family. Though we
are different in a lot of ways, we still love one another. “
Other people who usually visited his house heard about the news,
they decided to donate some money to help him start again. Some
even offered help to rebuild his house.
A week after, the cause of the fire was known, The police investigated
the incident and looked for the culprit. One of the men who burned the
house surrendered. He helped the police catch the mastermind. The
man was very sorry for the woman who had to do such an act – just for
a very selfish reason.
The next day, the woman was caught. She was put into prison.
Months passed and the man’s house was rebuilt. Many people from
faraway places started coming to his house again. The man also
added more animals to his collection. He and other people, who
helped him, took care of the animals in his new mini-zoo.
