GLOSSARY
Batch - A specific quantity of a product that is manufactured or processed in
a single process or series of processes, intended to have uniform quality and
characteristics.
Batch Number - A unique identifier assigned to a batch, allowing
traceability of production, quality control, and distribution records.
Bulk Product - An intermediate product that has completed all processing
stages except for final packaging.
Calibration - The process of verifying and adjusting the accuracy of
measuring instruments and equipment to ensure consistent performance.
Date of Manufacture - The date on which a product, batch, or material is
produced or assembled.
Documentation - All written, printed, or electronic records that provide
information about the manufacturing, quality control, and distribution
processes of a product.
Product - The final or intermediate result of a manufacturing process
intended for use or sale.
Finished Product - A product that has undergone all stages of
manufacturing, including packaging, and is ready for sale or use.
In-Process Control - Checks and tests performed during production to
ensure the manufacturing process remains within specified parameters.
Intermediate Product - A product that has undergone some processing but
is not yet a finished product.
Manufacture or Manufacturing - The process of producing products from
raw materials through stages such as processing, formulation, assembly, and
packaging.
Packaging - The operation of enclosing or protecting products in containers
or wrappers for distribution, storage, sale, or use.
Packaging Material - Any material used to protect, contain, or present a
product, including labels, containers, and wrappers.
Processing - The sequence of operations used to transform raw materials
into finished or intermediate products.
Production - The entire process of creating products from raw materials,
including formulation, processing, and packaging.
Quality Control - A system of procedures and checks designed to ensure
that products meet specified quality standards.
Quarantine - A designated area or status for materials or products that are
isolated until they have been tested and approved or rejected.
Raw Material - Any basic material used in the initial stages of production,
such as chemicals, components, or natural substances.
Rejected - A status assigned to materials, products, or batches that fail to
meet quality specifications and are deemed unsuitable for use.
Released - The authorization given to a batch of material or product to
proceed for use, sale, or distribution after meeting quality requirements.
Returned Product - A product that has been sent back by customers or
distributors, typically for quality or logistical reasons.
Sanitation - The measures taken to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in
manufacturing facilities to prevent contamination.
Specification of Materials - A detailed description of the requirements,
such as physical, chemical, or biological properties, that a material must
meet to be used in production.
Starting Materials - The raw materials or active ingredients that are used
at the beginning of the production process.
