with VG turbochargers, high-pressure injection systems,
and intake inter-cooling. Some of these engines also
include a low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation (EGR)
system or a 2-stage EGR cooler. In contrast, Scania also
unveiled a simplified engine system without EGR or a
VG turbocharger with the aim of improving fuel efficien-
cy focusing on commercial vehicle customers in the long-
